NFL Legend, Lawerence Taylor calls out Parsons (Podcast)

LT is one of the best of all time. I do not care about what he has to say about what players are doing on their free time though. Especially when you compare a podcast to what LT was doing.

You realize LT has a lot of help on the line, right? If Micah had a Carl Banks on the other side, he'd be even more disruptive. LT was great, but teams had never seen anyone like him before, and didn't know how to prepare for him. Would he be as productive in today's NFL? Maybe, but I doubt it.
Yep,
LT had complimentary pieces.
But again LTs film still doesn't lie.
LTs performance as the most dominant player on the field stood out. And by a lot.
For over a decade.

Parsons just hasnt shown me consistent dominance especially at the end of the year and some playoff games.
Some no shows actually.

Just my opinion.
I can respect yours as well.

Lawrence Taylor was a great player but he had a core of very good players around him. With his history off the field he should keep his mouth shut.

Lawrence Taylor is arguably the best defensive player in the history of the league. To me, there are only 4 in that coversation. Reggie White, Deion Sanders, Ray Lewis and LT.

He wasn't a product of those around him. He was a one man wrecking machine.

Well said.

Loved LT the player but I laugh off anything he says about conduct off the field. I saw a video on YouTube where fellow players said LT didn't know the names of the other teams. He didn't know who was in the NFC East. Said he never heard of the Saints. He just got jacked up and went out and balled

Also LT:

Some of you are upset at the assumed hypocrisy. Consider this. LT started to clean up his act in the late 90s (allegedly). Upon reflection, would he not have been able to identify his pitfalls, and pass wisdom onto future generations? His issues, and the perceived issues from Parsons aren't the same, but they have something in common. They're distractions and they're preventing a young, ultra-talented player from reaching his potential. Why be upset with Taylor if he, arguably the greatest defensive player to lace them up, is giving our guy constructive criticism? Yall really going to tell him to shut up and color when he's one of the very few that have the clout to get through to a stubborn young player? Think about that....

LT didn't get abused on the run.
He also wasn't playing out of position as an edge in a 4-3. He had 290 lb Leonard Marshall (with his 84 career sacks) on the right side of the line in front of him to handle offensive tackles.

Not saying Parson is close to LT, but to compare them as both ROLBs in 3-4 defenses is as far from the truth as you can get. You think LT would be the same player with his hand in the dirt in a 4-3 (and no Marshall lined up inside his shoulder on the RT to set the edge for him)? Maybe, but maybe not.

Again, not saying LT isn't the goat at OLB, just saying they aren't playing the same scheme or position. Frankly, Parson is better suited for ROLB in a 3-4. We aren't playing to those skills.

LT should leave all of his feedback to on the field only.

He should never, ever discuss anybody else’s off the field behavior. When the truth is. The dude is a criminal who would be in prison if he wasn’t a famous football player.

This is ridiculous! What you should think about is the false equivalency of comparing LT’s myriad off the field issues to Micah -who is the model of a man in just about any sense -podcasting? Remember, LT has no problems with his play on the field.

I wouldn’t mind my son being like one of these guys. From the tone of this thread, I wouldn’t assume everyone has the same answer.

He also gives him some serious props..........
My problem with this LT's own off-field issues as a player...........drugs, tardiness, and missing practice all while Parsell looked the other way.
