Video: O-line hitch nod to Landry

You're entitled to your opinion, Risen. But I'd disagree that it's childish to respect a defensive scheme but still not want to see it played in Dallas. There is more than one way to play defense in the NFL.

In any event, I'm surprisingly ok with having an opinion of what's 'ridiculous' that differs from your own.

I want the best defense. Regardless of where it came from or who had success with it. None of that matters.

I'm probably wrong, but I could always just picture Parcells puffing on a big cigar, playing poker with his "Jersey boys" in some back room in New Jersey.

Telling them in between big barrel laughs, .. "yea Jerry is paying me $4 million a year, LOL, .. I can improve the roster pretty easily, but I promise you the Cowboys won't win anything while I'm in Dallas."

I always thought he punked Jerry.

He was Jersey and NY Giants through and through, .. nobody up there ever wants Dallas to win anything.

I will never forgive Parcells for taking Jerry and Stephen's mess and turning it into a playoff contender.

From Garrett today "“That’s one of the signature things of the Coach Landry teams, was the offensive line coming to the line of scrimmage and doing that when Roger (Staubach) said, ‘Shift,’ and the backs would shift behind him. That’s an image that we all have. I think it’s an iconic image in football, and every Saturday morning we do this victory formation, our players do that. Somehow, someway, they communicated with each other to take it to the game, and it was fun to see.”

That last part about the this being on the player's initiative is really cool -- I expect it was probably Witten's idea

So not 100% the coach. Interesting.

Anybody notice that Mackenzy Bernadeau participated in the homage on the sidelines?

Really? Any video? That is awesome.

It's stuff like this that rallies a team together. The Seattle's have the 12. Dallas could have the Victory formation.

Even the Eagles have, "Trophy? We don't need no stinkin' trophies."

They got to have something. Batteries at Santa just doesn't translate.

It's in the video in the OP, pay close attention to the sidelines on the top right middle of the video.

I went back and looked at the Rams game, they didn't do it then. Must have been something they added this week. My guess is it came from Frederick. I love watching his weekly show on DC.com w/ Sham. He's so engaging and in tune with this franchise's history and the expectations that come with it.

If you watch them in the huddle right before they line up, it almost looks like it was Romo advocating for it.

It was cool but did anyone in the Landry family see it? Or care?

His son & wife don't. Jerry burned those bridges.

I must be missing the purpose of doing it other than it looks cool.

I love that.....man the Cowboys were the cutting edge under Landry, good for the O-line!

The Cowboys history is bigger than Jerry will ever be. Because Jerry blew it with coach doesn't mean he isn't a respected and huge part of our history. I'm sure Jerry cringed when they did it and I hope he did.

The real question is what does Jerry think of it. He hasn't shown a lot of gratitude for our history and past family. One of the things that does not leave with a warm and fuzzy with this ownership of my team.

Why not do it more often ? I mean it serves no purpose but it's still cool.

The purpose is to have the lineman flex up while the rb and or receivers are shifting to their positions, Landry felt that it made it more difficulty for the defensive players to see or follow what was going on. would love to see this added full time.

I'll be looking to read why they did that. It was neat though.

Yes I get that & agree. Don't you think by the time they did that Jerry was probably pretty gassed? He was at the game the night before & having a good time. :p
