Random thoughts from a toll collector

Reminds of me of me learning this when filling up my bike the first time in Jersey. It got a little tense for a minute when the attendant tried to take the nozzle from my hands. It's a split tank with two caps and there is a right way and a wrong way to fill it. I was packed for the long haul and if anyone was spilling gas on my stuff it was going to be me.
This cracks me up. Sometimes gas station attendants should choose their battles more wisely. Back in the early 90s I was with my friend when he was gassing up a mid 60s Corvette Stingray with the gas cap in the middle of the back hood. His business was buying, fixing up, and selling classic cars. Zero chance he was letting a pimpled face 18 year old wave that drippy nozzle over his car. How often does this happen? Just walk away.

Would Italy be one of them?

Check out this genius just for hits and giggles.

Even though the tow truck driver was totally wrong here, there's no excuse for not looking where you are going. This is broad daylight.

21 year old girl? Likely on her cell phone.

Yes, there are a bunch of states the ban alcohol sales on Sundays, and some states ban car sales on Sundays. I believe NJ is the only one left with general mandatory business closings on Sunday. Retail sales are banned with the exception of food and necessities. Gas stations are open. But in Paramus, it is against the law to open any other business ore even to go into work. A few years ago they fined a lawyer who went into his office to catch up on work on a Sunday! Oddly, the state Supreme Court has upheld every challenge to these laws that close businesses on Sundays. They claim the people of these towns have the right to determine how business is conducted in their townships. This is the same Supreme Court that has repeatedly upheld mandatory affordable housing laws that require towns to set aside land for the development of affordable housing regardless of teh townships' development plans.
I just moved away from south Jersey after living there for years. NJ overall does not have a mandatory business closing on Sunday (maybe Bergen Cty and/or Paramus does, but there's no state-wide law that's enforced that requires everything to be closed on Sundays). We went to plenty of businesses & restaurants (and purchased alcohol in liquor stores) on Sundays with no issue whatsoever.

All car dealerships are closed. I think that's statewide.

Would Italy be one of them?
YES. It was the exact country I was specifically thinking of when I talked about driving in other countries.

Ironically enough, the last time I was in Italy the place was swarming with small motorcycles, and they were buzzing in and out of traffic. I still felt as though they were still safer on motorcycles in Italy than in motorcycles in the US even though they were driving "up-tempo".

Motorcycles or Vespas?

Was in Italy for 3 weeks this past Oct. Rome 4 nights then rented a car and drove to Amalfi Coast, also rented a car in Sicily. You see more scooters there in 1 day than you would see in an entire year here, both male and female drivers. Mostly Chinese and Japanese bikes, the selection of cars there was to die for, much more selection than what we have here.

Drivers there are very aggressive but quite excellent was my experience. Very few lights, lots of roundabouts. Everything is controlled Chaos but it all works so well. No Left Lane idiots there. The Italians there put us to shame. I found it quite exhilarating and was grinning ear to ear.
