Interesting stuff. Todd has those connections in the draft community and dropped some gems and insight on a few players.

● QB Tyler Shough
● RB class w/ rankings
● TE, DE, iDL talk

DT note - Nolen n Grant are neck n neck while Harmon is further down the board.

If y'all get a chance to check it out let me know what stands out to you guy.

So you take Jalen Carter over Saquan?
Of course, and everyone else should as well.

Always follow the money. Billionaires are billionaires because they are extremely frugal and very very good with numbers. Owners know what they’re doing, they’re not nearly as cap dumb as people think. DT’s get paid more than double that of RB’s… this is no accident. Next year we’ll be paying Jalen 30m$ a year while Saquon gets less than 15. This isn’t an accident or some big mistake in cap management. This is a direct reflection of individual player value.

Philadelphia Eagles total Offense 2024: 8th
Philadelphia Eagles total Offense 2023: 8th
Philadelphia Eagles total Offense 2022: 3rd

Don’t get it twisted; Saquon is a big boon to our offense. But we felt a bigger impact when AJ was injured earlier in the year than we ever did in 2022/2023 with Deandre Swift or Miles Sanders at RB. With a great Oline you can take 3 mediocre/above average RBs and nearly replicate Saquon’s impact. You cannot do that with Jalen Carter

Imagine our DLine without Jalen Carter. Milton Williams is good, he’s not great, and probably won’t even be good if he’ll be doubled most plays. Josh Sweat gets extra attention if they don’t need to worry about Jalen. This will give QBs more time, which will make our secondary look worse because guys will eventually get open.

IMO QB, LT, RT, 3-Tech are the 4 most value positions in all of football. And we might have the best 3-tech of the last 20 years not named Aaron Donald

not always follow the money: or at least commons sense
look at Daks contract or the stupid trades for Watson and others
must because the money is there does not mean the VALUE is there

This fire Bro, and a lot to unpack. Makes sense what you said about Billionaires, Jerry may be playing the fool lol.

Good point about Milton and the talent surrounding him. I've seen a good number of Cowboys fans want Williams over Osa, in FA.

Interesting you go with 3T as a premier position over DE. I kinda get it though because dominate 3Ts seem to be more rare.

IMO QBs are still undervalued even at what they’re getting paid. Josh Allen is worth 100m$ on a 250m$ cap

That team loses josh Allen and they’re not winning 8 games. He won 14

Dak thing may be more about the disparity between the Josh Allen tier and those below. That’s harder to extrapolate

Edge vs 3T is a similar argument. It’s individual fantasy football stats vs overall impact. Think about TJ Watt: In 2023 TJ had 19 sacks, while the Pittsburgh Steelers had 47 as a team. The other 9 D-line players barely had more sacks than TJ. What kind of impact is TJ having on the entire Dline, or is he really just the consistent payoff guy for the impact of other players? Is their Dline bad, beside TJ? No, the opposite. Was 47 sacks a lot? Not really, 12th in the league.

Big stat numbers aren’t always the direct way to prove how a player helps win you games. If the Steelers had less sacks than the Jets and the Colts and the Bucs, what kind of sense does that make when they have TJ Watt? Maybe TJ doesn’t necessarily add a lot of sacks to the team, he just pays off potential sacks that other DE’s may have not been capable of. It’s not a straight “+19” sack benefit in getting TJ. Make sense? The Steelers wouldn’t have been just a 28 sack team had he missed the year.

So a great DE gives higher sack payoff potential, pressure on QB’s with the threat of a sack, which helps secondaries, and he’s good against the run too….

I was gonna do a big write up of all the impact a dominant 3-tech can have, but instead I’ll just do this:

Best 3techs of the last 15 years: Ndamukong Suh, Aaron Donald, Fletcher Cox, Cameron Heyward, Chris Jones, Jalen Carter

Best DE’s of the last 15 years: Khalil Mack, TJ Watt, JJ Watt, Myles Garrett, Micah Parsons, Nick Bosa, Danielle Hunter

Count the rings

by that measure of value then Mahomes should have carried the Chiefs to another SB win.
BUT HE DID NOT because the TEAM AROUND HIM was not as good
and if you are paying 25% of the cap for one player you are going to have a LOT OF HOLES

Did KC’s OTs fail them in the Super Bowl?

If DT3 merits priority, how does this impact G and C selection?

I appreciate this discussion!

I won't speak for @Aerolithe_Lion
My take is KC had injuries on the OL and that was an issue vs such a good DL, their OG was playing LT.

Great point, most teams focus on OTs, but in the NFE East teams have to build the iOL because of the DTs in the division, so you see the Eagles with the best OL and Dallas with Tyler n Cooper.
