Video: The Movie Trailer thread

I am more hesitant than disappointed with what is shown in the trailer. The 60's concept had already been released to the public, so I had been expecting that look.

What I want confirmed now is whether this is an Earth from the multiverse different from the what has been presented in the MCU so far. I want to say yes it is. Sure, it's the 60's but it is the kind of 60's that doesn't fix the flow of Disney/Marvel so far. If anything, it more aligns with what was seen in WandaVision than anything else--and that was straight out of Wanda's imagination early on.

Casting-to-character first impressions:
  • I think they nailed Johnny
  • Ben's CGI is not as 'polished' as I had hoped but looks tons better than previous versions
  • People may kill me because of looks (Jessica Alba) but Sue might be the best actress to play her thus far
  • Not feeling Reed yet but that may be because I am still picturing Reed as The Mandalorian :) and Maxwell Lord
Totally agree Disney/Marvel must make a great attempt at knocking this one out of the park. The freaking bad guy is GALACTUS for pete's sakes!
I think it’s definitely an alternate universe.

And I’m very happy that they’ve somehow managed to work in that 60’s vibe for the Fantastic Four. I was hoping for it. They’ve always had that vibe and I’m glad they’re not ignoring it.

I expect that Galactus wins here and the FF (and Doom) manage to flee to our universe with their lives.

Galactus FTW. I hope he's a major menace. He/it needs to be a Thanos Doctor Doom level threat. I actually didn't really mean disappointed. Hesitant actually is the right word. I just really, really want this to be well...fantastic.
Same here. And I really think Disney/Marvel does as well. They paid a lot of money to get these characters back and I think they’re doing everything they can to help them be successful.

In the team's comic title, the classic battle ended in a stalemate due to Reed Richards bluff using the Ultimate Nullifer. Using that canon event, I think the original story can be modified where the Ultimate Nullifer 'malfunctions slightly', opening a rift between realities where the team can cross over into the Earth-616 reality.

My imagination does not stop there. As established in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Reed created technology that can connect to multiple realities for the Illuminati to keep Stranges in check. It should be piece of cake for this July's Reed to do the same. In fact, the decades old group title's Reed did the exact same thing, especially with inter-reality, two-way travel with The Negative Zone. Can anyone say... Annihilus? That would be awesome in my book.

My third best guess is based on the MCU's future Secret Wars. Robert Downey Jr. is already cast as Victor von Doom. Dr. Doom plus SW has a high probability of Battleworld eventually happening. If that happens, different Earths or parts of different Earths will be mash together into one version.

It would be temporary but would create a scenario where Earth-616 and FF-Earth heroes and villains are in a singular setting. And as seen in The Marvels, this scenario would integrate the mutants solidly into it as well.

I definitely think that’s how they introduce mutants into the MCU.

I would add also expect a few other as yet unseen Marvel heroes to be brought in the same way.

Then they’ll ’close up’ the Multiverse stuff and these characters will be the MCU going forward.

It looks like the original, scene for scene. Not sure it was necessary, but it looks well done.
Even the director said today it's pretty much shot for shot. But I really think it will be quality. I love the original trilogy. Very underrated. Unlike other live action remakes *cough* Disney *cough* i think this will hit the spot.

Kind of disappointed. But I still have crazy high hopes. Marvel really needs to nail this one even more than Cap and Thunderbolts going into the next Avengers movies.

Pretty meh
Hopefully the movie is better

They would have been better off rebooting XMen. Much more limited possibilities here
