News: Zack Martin retires

A great OL.....obviously the injuries got the best of him. Thanks Zack Martin, for the performances and standard of play. You are appreciated.

dumb posts make me laugh
Btw, stop being touchy. He ain't coming back into the building. Yes he was awesome. But the truth is, we will be ok. Guard isn't hard to find. Maybe not on his level, who is...but we will find a decent guard and move forward.

you keep playing this tune and no one believes it

but it is amusing so keep it up
That's not true. Everyone finally saw how bad it was. Logical people understand it didn't just happen overnight.

"but it is amusing so keep it up" Oddly, that's exactly how I feel about you still trying to deny it.

flat earthers are always funny
keep it up

Respect and peace out. Enjoy your life after football. Zack's body was falling apart the last 2 years so hoping he can be healthy the rest of the way with his family. And the trifecta is now officially gone. :( Can't believe with TBeard, Zack, Tyron, Zeke and some other good linemen, the Boys never made it past the divisional round.

I admire the man for having his own high standard by which he stood by,thus when he couldn't meet his standards, hung it up. Rare character. Better person I'm wagering to bet, than player. Maybe someday he can be an Oline coach.

He was still at or near top form in 2022. 2023 there was a very steep decline in his play. He went from All Pro caliber to average NFL starter
I would have to refresh my memory but I believe he declined fairly significantly in 2022. Not as obvious as 2023 & 24 for sure though.

Either way, there were a period of 2-3 years where he wasn't getting beaten often BUT he wasn't moving anyone either. That's not HOF level play.

How long do you have to play at HOF level? I'm not sure but it's a criteria that is used for eligibility. In my view, he had 4-5 HOF level years. That's only roughly half his career.

If we put in every RB, WR, EDGE that had a dominant stretch of a few years, we'd have to double the entrants each year. It's a tough question between having HOF talent and having a HOF career.

On name recognition. His play slipped considerably in 2023. He was about NFL average starter. He shouldn't have made the Pro Bowl, let alone 1st Team All Pro
There have been so many obvious cases of name recognition thru the years. Unbelievable that so many people just go along with it when their eyes should have told them differently.

I get labeled as a Zack basher (which I'm not) but my pushback isn't just specific to him. I simply want the accolades to only go to those who earned them. It avoid situations like this where a guy got All Pro status in years he didn't deserve it. Now his resume looks great and it's difficult to distinguish between perception & reality when trying to put his career in perspective.
