Keyshawn Johnson, Thomas Everitt, Ray Horton, Jay Novacek, Terry Glenn, Rahib ‘Rocket’ Ismael... sure, most will remember Charles Haley and Dieon Sanders. But how about excellent but lesser-known contributors like La’roi Glover whom played for less successful versions of the Dallas Cowboys yet were excellent nonetheless?

Name your favorite ‘journeymen’ Dallas Cowboys.
Im trying to come with some that havent been named yet lol.

Chris Warren was a good pick up. We actually had a really hard time finding competent backups to Emmitt. We spent a 4th and a 2nd on Derrick Lassic and Sherman Williams and both were busts.

Was it an INT of a FF?

Wasnt there an FF early in the game near the goal line?

Was a pick. Norton stopped Davis at the goal line on 3rd down. Bills went for it on 4th and Kelly’s pass was picked by Everett. The FF was earlier in the game, Haley pressured Kelly and the ball came loose which was plucked in midair by Jimmie Jones for the TD.

Unbelievable any Cowboys fan would mention T.O. Guess I hold grudges longer than most.

Laurent Robinson was my pick. Wish he could've caught on.

Oh, Blair Thomas. hehehehe, I kid, I kid.

TO, Marty B, Greg Hardy... :D

Didn't Dallas draft TE 'Marty B' straight out of A&M? And I struggle to remember anything positive he ever did on the field before he left in FA for... the NY Giants I believe.

Derek Kennard "Retired" 2 or 3 times but came back.

Matt Vanderbeek...

Joe Thomas & Olawale. Both departed and returned. Does that count...

Although not drafted by them, Olawale was originally a Dallas Cowboy to start his pro football career. I would suggest that is the disqualifier. But it is really a thread about fine contributors who were not originally DRAFTED by the Dallas Cowboys. I'll give you Olawale if you'll give me Tony Romo. ;)

Renfro was fun to watch back in the day. Tony Casillas was awesome. Someone said Kenny Grant.

Did we draft Kelvin Martin?

I have to say I liked Terry Glenn a lot more after he played for us. He really showed great work ethic and competitive fire. TG showed up and competed every time. He is really one I hated as a Pat and loved as a cowboy.

Issiac Holt, the only player We kept from the Walker trade.
He was a solid player at CB and blocked several punts.

I remember loving Isaac Holt, especially the season before the Cowboys caught fire and won SBXXVII. Aikman was out and Buerlein was the QB thru their playoff loss to the Lions ( who were being prematurely deemed by many pundits as the next big thing in the NFL - Wayne Fontenot was a genius at the time).

Cagy veteran presence in the secondary and a willing hitter. I really enjoyed his tenure with Dallas. They got him from Cleveland, right?

TO would have to be one. I wasn't around in the Laundry days having been born in 1992, and I didn't follow the sport until around 1999/2000. So, yeah, I'd say I really enjoyed TO.

I'm also an unashamed TO lover. 'I love me some me!'... 'Get your popcorn!'... The guy was pure entertainment - on the field and off.

Roger Staubach was pretty good. Came from Vietnam to play here.

Laurent Robinson was good here. One of the few moments in his NFL he was actually healthy.

Jason Ferguson was a good NT here.

Marc Colombo.

But Dallas actually drafted Staubach - Robinson from the Rams and Ferguson from the Jets turned out to be fine FA pickups.

Rolando McClain (aka RoMac) - before he decided he preferred the "purple drank".
TO
Ron Leary
David Irving - before he decided weed was much better than the NFL
:D

I thought Leary was okay - but I really felt like Dallas robbed a bank when I first saw McClain in the middle. He was just a killer - before his hobbies robbed HIM of his desire for greatness. Same with Irving. He took a while to finally crack the lineup - but that regular season game against Green Bay and Aaron Rogers during Zeke and Dak's rookie season was one hell of an eye-opener. David irving was a one-man wrecking crew. He was nothing short of pure awesome sauce.

Those are two hellacious 'might-have-beens.'

Offensive line seems to be lacking so Tony Liscio. Drafted by the Packers in 1963, the Cowboys picked him up off waivers. Many credit him as the missing piece of the Cowboy line back then. He became the left tackle when not injured until 1970 when he was part of a trade for Lance Alworth.

Due to injuries he was traded to Miami in September 1971 and announced his retirement.

In November 1971, starting left tackle Ralph Neely broke his leg. Landry called Liscio on Monday. Wednesday he reported and Sunday started against the Commanders.

He and Lance Alworth ended up being teammates in Super Bowl VI. And Tony Liscio was runnerup for NFL Comeback Player of the Year.

That Terry Glenn could tap in a sideline catch as well as any reciever I have ever seen.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that SOB was fast, too. It's a shame we didn't get him and Parcells for just one more season.

Tony Liscio... wow. That's a blast from the past. And consider how many good running backs came from the Cowboys of that era - you don't get a bunch of those without being good up front.

Don Perkins, Calvin Hill AND Duane Thomas. I'd take any of them today.

I really didn't care for him. I was just joking. I did however actually like TO. I have an autographed photo of TO. As far as Hardy is concerned I felt that he was unfairly demonized. I won't go into the details but I'm 100% sure that he was the victim of a gold digger just like Zeke was.
