This has been nagging in my brain since we entered the off-season..
Name the two things these 3 playes have in common..
Jaylon
Zeke
Tank
?
They are all key players.
They all have big salaries.
They all had big falloff after receiving their new deals.
Should this worry us with..
Amari
Dak
Byron Jones
..signing new deals? (I think Jones is signable and needed in a rebuilding year).
And additionally, all 3 want long-term deals with upfront guaranteed money.
If two instead receive Tags, and the 3rd gets a contract..
is that going to diminish their play?
To me in looking at Kirk Cousins, he received a 2nd Tag after his first one. Although he got paid by the Vikes, he really did not elevate his game once playing in Minny.
In fact the Vikes made the playoffs with Cousins his first two years there, but there were alot of grumblings about his cap vs his wins post-season.
And with this being a heavy rebuilding year, can we afford anymore falloff of our top players with so much changing?
If Jaylon, Tank, Zeke, Dak, Amari and Jones all step step back in 2020, what then?
I do not want to make this another Dak thread..so let's make it a performance vs.contract thread.
(Aimed at Dak of course..haha)
Comments welcome.
