Let's see...remove the stupid rule and game stoppage...add more commercials and make more money....make more money is the answer.
They next question...how do we speed up the game to offset this....answer, let's create some stupid game clock rules like the clock runs after the ball is set for an incompletion, and eliminate the clock stoppage rules in the last 2 minutes of the 1st half and last 5 minutes of the game.
10 second runoff for clock stoppage for every inured player that causes more than 30 seconds to get them off the field. At least they may try that is PS games first.

They reacted instead of responded to an egregious error by a ref. And one thing you can bet on, if it happens in a playoff game it will mushroom quickly. That's how we got instant replay even though the play that caused that would not have been overturned as the evidence was inconclusive.

This "Ok, we're on it" posture of the NFL when something goes awry is really amusing to watch.

Problem with pass interference and holding(offense and defense) is that different crews allow differing amounts of leeway before throwing the flag.

It's not like a false start, offsides or facemask(to a certain degree). There's grey area and refs may miss something from their view that may be obvious not not obvious from a 180 degree view.

There won't ever be a day where all the crews call games exactly like one another. What is maddening though is when refs change their interpretation of PI during the same game.

I am impressed with how efficient the XFL has been with the replays. The NFL could learn a thing or three from the XFL and this is one of them. I am sure the administrative bureaucracy of the NFL is hard to overcome but man, the XFL is running circles around them in that regard.

But somehow the league worth millions (CFL) has figured it out while the league worth billions (NFL) struggles with it. Every time I see one of these articles, I shake my head in disbelief.

According to the article almost 1/4 of the reviews were turned over. That's a lot more than it seemed like.

I'm sure New York is watching every game in real time. Maybe they should just leave it up to them to call and stop the game when there's a questionable call. Or better yet, have the commentators call for a review. They usually have a pretty good eye for bad calls.

That's what got me. There were some that definitely should've been overturned and were not. It makes it difficult to trust the spirit of the rule.

Nice way to put it. What should have been done is instead of pushing the game and fans with a slow process, they should be having a system in place to hold refs accountable.

I seem to remember exactly one reversal in week one and zero
in at least the following 6 weeks. They overturned several in the final few weeks
to pad the stats, imo.

We're getting old, I agree. So maybe I just dreamed it... lol
