I'd take dak over dalton every day if the week, but dont dismiss the posters point of view so quickly. It's actually a pretty interesting take, and really if you go back to Daltons first 3/4 years in the league it was very similar to the Dak debates of today. Young guy, won a lot of games early in their career, not a top draft pick.

Fans debated heavily if he was the franchise QB, or if it were the supporting cast that was winning game. Dalton got paid, lost sanu, whitworth, marvin jones, ect. And has seen that team go downhill in recent history.

Now I think the bengals woes go beyond andy dalton, and you have to look at their senile owner...but....well....I guess we are just drawing more parallels to the cowboys.

even good Qbs need good supporting casts,Rodgers had some awful games this season and was bailed out by his Defense which they revamped in 1 offseason.

I like Dak and believe he can be a good qb in this league. He is durable, leader, has good work ethic, and appears to be the type of qb his teammates want to follow. He does not have the skill set as other qbs in the league but either did Brady( if you read Brady’s scouting report there is no way this guy should be in the NFL). Not saying that Dak can be Brady ( hopefully he is) but I would like to see what McCarthy can do with him. I would like to know length of the contract though. If Dak doesn’t sign this offer, franchise him and if Tua some how gets close to our pick( not going to happen) and his injuries check out, then I am all for drafting him. Let the best man win the job.

Andy Dalton isn't in the same league as Dak. Let's not get it twisted. Dak is a much better QB.

Speaking of Rodgers look at the year he won the superbowl.

All we heard was how he won it for them but in reality they had 5 defensive players make either pro bowl or NFL top 100 and 3 out of those 5 made the all-pro team.....

I think you’d be shocked at what some of these starting caliber FA QBs could do behind the Oline that we have, the WRs we have, and the RB that we have. Dak is good but he’d be Andy dalton or worse if he played for the Bengals. Don’t get it twisted.

Ah yes, the 2020 version of "any QB can succeed in Dallas." Of course, the last time this moronic thought was expressed, Dallas ended up with a top 5 pick and one of our worst seasons in recent memory in 2015.

This thread is a waste of time when you consider the fact that Jerry and Stephen have already said a hundred times that they have no intention of allowing Dak to go anywhere. That much is clear, whether or not they choose to franchise tag him or sign to a contract him at some point.

Should Dallas let Dak Prescott walk

If the Dallas Cowboys are really intent on winning a Super Bowl within the next five to ten years, then they have some serious business decisions to make, and it begins at the top, with their start

Article was dumb for the usual mistake of judging a QB by team record.

I expect Jerry to sign Dak as he hasn't done anything to give himself an alternative in the last year. We didn't look to backfill a Mike White who sucked.

I also get the impression that Jerry expects the cap to balloon, and so is looking to lock in players now even on seemingly overpriced contracts. We could get another surprise signing in Collins.

What a terrible article. Really lazy “Journalism”

Here is the tldr version of the article
  1. We shouldn’t sign Dak
  2. If we had Rodgers, Brady or Wilson the last four years we would have one a super bowl
  3. No mention of what the Boys should do after letting Dak walk. Is the implication we should start Cooper Rush?
The article lost me when the guy mentioned Rivers.

Not agreeing or disagreeing with the article but he listed 3 names who could be the Cowboy's QB, no implication of Rush starting at all.

I guess Dak threads are good for advertising revenue.

The point of the article is to pose the question would paying Dak and surrounding him with less talent as a result of that contract make the TEAM better? The answer is probably not. So, in which case, why pay Dakota 105 million? The goal is the super bowl not enriching your favorite players who have come up short.

Sounds like his boss hit him with writing a Dak story right before the deadline.

Good, Bad or indifferent, Dakota has already written his own story on the field. Over-hyping or undervaluing him is an act of futility at this point.

Dak's agent isn't stupid. He knows that franchise players like Tyron Smith, Jaylon, Zeke, Martin, D-law, La'el, Frederick are all locked up to big money deals and are in the 2-3 year windows to perform now.

****** situation because you don't want to overpay Dak but at the same time you let him walk and you'll probably end up wasting the remaining primes of those players listed above
Dak knew he had contract issues all of last year but didn’t get the job done. This team needs Ws, especially the come from behind type. Is that Dak? Didn’t look like it last year. And yes, resigning Dak will waste the good players and at the same time decrease the money to get good players. The worst case scenario is to sign Dak at a high price. This teams needs to stop trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. Just because Jerry likes someone doesn’t mean we should screw the rest of the team.

no!!!!!!!! don't go dak. give the man 45 million a year, I hope we never win a playoff game! I just want him to be paid more than Wentz!!
The Cowboys are on the verge of making the biggest mistake since throwing away 2 #1 draft picks for Joey Galloway. Blow up a decent team instead of building on what they have. All for the most over rated QB in the NFL. In 10 years we will all be looking at Dak like we do Dave Campo saying what was Dallas thinking.
