Current WR roster

Amari Cooper - 1st Round pick #4
Michael Gallup - 3rd Round pick #81
Devin Smith - 2nd Round pick #37
Cedrick Wilson - 6th Round pick
Noah Brown - 7th Round pick
Ventell Bryant - undrafted

The Cowboys need to figure out if Smith or Wilson can be a #3 receiver. And they can always choose to bring back Dez to be a possession receiver.

They MIGHT draft a WR because the class is so deep with talent. But they don't NEED to draft one.

Really like Wilson, wish he could stay healthy.
Lots of WR talent. I bet we can find a good one day 3, after spending day 1 and day 2 fixing the D.

I think they hid Devin Smith after the Washington game for whatever reason...

Or he literally had one good play but never earned the trust of the staff for whatever reasons.

Definitely need to draft a WR somewhere around the 3rd-4th...

I remember he had a few more good plays but he just wasnt in many formation's after awhile or wasn't active. You could be right but I also think from what I've seen, he has potential and his tape from Ohio St is outstanding. Never know..but you aren't wrong, this draft is too deep at WR not to take a flyer on a guy in the rounds you stated.

Looks like a lot of youth and inexperience after the top 2. Could use a veteran possession WR. Cheap. I think Jerry has been considering the problem in the shower.

My pet peeve of 2019 was that we didn't do more with Devin Smith. Showed up in preseason. Showed up in the season. Then was made inactive for the majority of the season. Even with all the WR injuries we had going into the Jets game. Having him inactive probably cost us that game. And now we didn't develop a consensus 2nd round WR, and have him for only one more year. That's what happens when your coaching staff is full of dead men walking. They aren't too concerned with developing players.

I think it's likely we take one. Brown and Smith are contract years. Brown, Bryant, and Wilson are meh. We need to start developing someone to take Gallup's place in a couple of years. Takes over from Dez/Vet as our WR3 in 2021, Takes over for Gallup as WR2 in 2022.

A thought I'd like. Offer Smith a cheap extension and see if he bites. If not, he's a short timer and we don't spend development snaps on him.

If the Cowboys don't play Wilson or Smith any more this year than they did last year then drafting a WR fairly early is a must. This is such a deep class they might just get one in the 3rd or 4th anyway.

Don't forget Jon'Vea Johnson and Lance Lenoir Jr. and even Tavon Austin returning.

They still need a receiver who can make a big play in big moments vs defenders that get in your jock
