Remember how Dallas ended up with no RDEs on the roster?

1st Jerry trades for Robert Quinn who had 2 years remaining on his contract and signs him to a 1 year deal from $11M to $8M.

Then he releases Taco Charlton who had to go through Jerry Jones infatuation with Randy Gregory and his unreliability with weed NFL suspensions (plural). Jerry cuts Taco (No suspensions or trouble) with 2 years remaining on his rookie deal not including a 5th year option because Taco was a 1st round pick.

What will the Jerry Dumbo GM do next at DL? He is down a sack leader, 2 weed heads, a no.1 draft pick, and pick up a 32 year old DT on a 3 year contract. Mind Boggling.

Taco was terrible. Glad that loser is gone. Quinn was one dimensional. Was as bad against the run as he was good in the pass rush. Quinn was part of the problem last year. And did you see the contract he just signed?

Problem was that he listened to the moron Merinelli on what kind of Dlineman he wanted.

McCoy is a good pickup at a bargain price. We need ONE more good Dlineman. Either in FA or the draft and this Dline will be looking up.

The problem with the Jones FO is simple. They never seem to have a clear, proactive plan that they stick with. Always reacting to what other teams do instead of deciding what WE want to do. They’re always waiting on other teams to “set the market” instead of knowing the market and getting who they want. It’s just plain stupid if you’re planning to build a championship roster.

Proactive is always > reactive.

I loved McCoy since high school with his quick burst that sack Tim "Jesus" Tebow in the Army All American game. But he is 32 years old and if he plays out the contract, he will be 35?

How do you know the Taco taste bad when all you did was play with your food like a kid and did not take a bite?

McCoy still has that burst and was disruptive in the middle last year. I suspect his contract is written where we can get out after a year or two with no pain.

You guys have no idea how bad Quinn was for this defense last year. Put it this way - Jameis Winston led the league in passing yards last year but he’s currently out of a job because of how much he turned the ball over. Robert Quinn was top 10 in sacks but was horrendous vs. the run. He did way more harm than good, trust me on this - I know what I’m talking about. Quinn is the Jameis Winston of DE’s. Him leaving is not a loss at all.

I agree re: Quinn, but it's interesting that Taco had more sacks and more forced fumbles in 10 games (5 starts) with Miami than he had his entire time in Dallas.

Could be coaching, but some guys need something like getting cut to light a fire under them.

Freak out threads on the first official day of free agency. Oh CBZ, never change.....
Never fails.
And to say they don't have a plan is absurd

Don't have to agree with their plans, but they do have plans, as well as the mandatory plan flexibility--given there are 32 teams.

heh Jerry had little to do with some of this. The problem with the FO is who they listen too. Listening to Marinelli landed us Taco (who was still the best 4-3 DE available) and Hill. Listening to Marinelli also had us cut taco who showed a boost in productivity for miami.

The robert quinn trade was a success-

randy has been a failure- but that could change if he actually plays this year.

I don’t know about Dumbo, but this thread is Goofy, and Daffy.

Beyond that Grumpy, Dopey and maybe a couple more of the seven dwarfs would like a word.

We had Taco for 2 years and 3 offseasons. He was terrible. He played in games and in preseason. There was also plenty of reporting on how bad he was. Couldn't even beat out the scrubs we had. Had a bad attitude while he was here. Idiot started Hot Boyz. Was a bad draft pick to begin with and did little in college.

McCoy is older, but a very good price for a quality starter. Very solid pickup. Better than anything else we have had at DT in a while.

Taco did little for Miami and that is was being allowed to start every game he was there.

You mean he traded a 6th round pick for a compensatory 3rd.

and signed a DT who has almost double the sacks Collins has in the last three years.

and they don’t suspend for weed now.

amazing how people still want to point to " jerry" as the mastermind behind the Cowboys cap and personnel movement nowadays , when its' really his son Stephen and McClay that are going the due diligence works. Jerry is more the advertising face of Cowboys - but he has let his son and crew make the bigger decisions.
some people love to want to hate and have to have a villain.

It could be worse, we could be Bears fans. Their moves are puzzling at best.
