I agree Quinn was not as good against the run as he was against the pass. I’m not sure how good or bad Taco could have been with Dallas, we don’t know how much of it was his inability to be coached, or Rod Marinelli giving up on the player. Hopefully Jim Tomsula is a better coach, he did have success coaching DT’s in Washington, so I still have hope for Trysten Hill.Taco was terrible. Glad that loser is gone. Quinn was one dimensional. Was as bad against the run as he was good in the pass rush. Quinn was part of the problem last year. And did you see the contract he just signed?
Problem was that he listened to the moron Merinelli on what kind of Dlineman he wanted.
McCoy is a good pickup at a bargain price. We need ONE more good Dlineman. Either in FA or the draft and this Dline will be looking up.
???Remember how Dallas ended up with no RDEs on the roster?
1st Jerry trades for Robert Quinn who had 2 years remaining on his contract and signs him to a 1 year deal from $11M to $8M.
Then he releases Taco Charlton who had to go through Jerry Jones infatuation with Randy Gregory and his unreliability with weed NFL suspensions (plural). Jerry cuts Taco (No suspensions or trouble) with 2 years remaining on his rookie deal not including a 5th year option because Taco was a 1st round pick.
What will the Jerry Dumbo GM do next at DL? He is down a sack leader, 2 weed heads, a no.1 draft pick, and pick up a 32 year old DT on a 3 year contract. Mind Boggling.
Ok I’ll buy in but if this is the case, their plan(s) have sucked for 20+ years. Make a new plan or even better, how bout letting someone who’s not clueless make the plan.Never fails.
And to say they don't have a plan is absurd
Don't have to agree with their plans, but they do have plans, as well as the mandatory plan flexibility--given there are 32 teams.
You guys have no idea how bad Quinn was for this defense last year. Put it this way - Jameis Winston led the league in passing yards last year but he’s currently out of a job because of how much he turned the ball over. Robert Quinn was top 10 in sacks but was horrendous vs. the run.
And they took us to the woodshed this past yearIt could be worse, we could be Bears fans. Their moves are puzzling at best.

Very good pointComing in, Quinn should have been played as a pass rush specialist, with Taco/Crawford playing the base. Our lack of depth put Quinn on the field too much.
You have been watching the same off season scenario for 30 years in a row. So, If its an elephant that flies with big ears, on a Walt Disney movie lot, and shots peanuts at you from the sky, Its Dumbo.amazing how people still want to point to " jerry" as the mastermind behind the Cowboys cap and personnel movement nowadays , when its' really his son Stephen and McClay that are going the due diligence works. Jerry is more the advertising face of Cowboys - but he has let his son and crew make the bigger decisions.
some people love to want to hate and have to have a villain.
So did Demarcus Lawrence and Taco tied his sack total in less games. Trust me there was no justification for what the Dumbo GM did with the DL for the past 30 years.Taco did little for Miami and that is was being allowed to start every game he was there.
whats mind boggling is the ignorant fans who think they have a better idea then an actual team of Pros..Remember how Dallas ended up with no RDEs on the roster?

Sound like you know football. You are absolutely right and Taco would not be filing for reinstatement again like Gregory and Irving.Coming in, Quinn should have been played as a pass rush specialist, with Taco/Crawford playing the base. Our lack of depth put Quinn on the field too much.
clueless internet GMs at it early with 6months to go and plenty of moves to make..Freak out threads on the first official day of free agency. Oh CBZ, never change.....
No what is mind boggling is clueless mind controlled fans that do not read the post. Jerry Jones resigned Quinn to a one year deal that had 2 years left, sent a draft pick, and then cut a 1st round pick DE that had the same number of sacks as Demarcus Lawrence last year in less games.whats mind boggling is the ignorant fans who think they have a better idea then an actual team of Pros..
get life..the offseason literally started 48hrs ago and 6months before game 1 and the whinefest has started,.. clueless
To add, nobody knows how hard the Cowboys front office is working to get deals done. It’s not like we have first dibs on players and we’re the only team in the league - there are 31 other teams trying to improve constantly. We have a lot of holes to fill and not a ton of money (approx. $21.5 million as of right now).whats mind boggling is the ignorant fans who think they have a better idea then an actual team of Pros..

This empty spot at RDE was not done 48 hours ago but has been void since Jimmy Johnson traded for Charles Haley, and Parcells drafted Demarcus Ware. You are what you are...a Dumbo GM.
LOL calm the f down..To add, nobody knows how hard the Cowboys front office is working to get deals done. I’m agreeing, not disagreeing.LOL calm the f down..
the offseason literally started 48hrs ago and 6months before game 1, lots of time and many moves to be made then the draft then june cuts more trades and more signings..
