It is nothing more than a way to get the heat off of the scrub that is playing QB now.
For me it is a way to highlight double standards. Almost every complaint made against Dak can be made against Romo with the exception of having that bad stretch in 2017 when we were pretty bad at scoring.
I was a big fan of Tony’s in his playing days. I was one of the Romo lovers who found a way to blame others to shield Romo from criticism, claiming Romo played well enough that we could have won if only the team was better. I knew every mistake his teammates made and would use them all in arguments.
Since Dak took over, the Romo lovers have gone from QB defenders to being very critical of the position; however, their criticisms also describe Tony Romo. It’s pretty easy to bash Romo using the exact same criticisms you guys have of Dak because Romo did the same things. You guys have become so hyper critical of the position in your hatred for Dak that few QBs can live up to the high expectations you now have.
And with NFL league pass, it’s going to be easier to find those similarities. An example, watch the 2011 week 17 loss to the Giants using the same critical eye you have of Dak, That was a stinker of a performance but the defense has always been to blame. Garbage time makes Romo’s stats look better but he was horrible. Missing wide open Dez deep on first possession, turnovers, getting a stupid penalty on 3rd down throwing ball after crossing the LOS when he could have easily ran for 1st down, falling behind 21-0 (slow start) etc.
The fact is people are making a choice. Most Dak haters choose to focus on his flaws and excuse the team. With Romo they choose to overlook his flaws and focus the rest of the team. I’ll grant you Romo is better than Dak but you guys think Dak is so bad that it isn’t saying much.
