I'd love to hear the logic on Crawford

Crawford is a $9.1MM cap hit this year and would save $8MM if cut.

He's not a starting player for us. Lawrence is the LDE, McCoy is better and likely the starter at the 3T, Woods is bigger and more able to hold up at the 1T spot and Crawford is not a RDE.

I don't think Crawford is a bad player by any stretch. He serves a purpose and is a capable backup. But that's all he is........... a backup. And when you watch this organization penny pinch the hell out of FA, it's strange that they seem content on letting a backup DL eat up nearly $10MM in cap space.

There are two starting caliber RDEs out there in Golden and Griffen. Clowney would be a third if you want to think big. We lack a starting RDE. Cut Crawford (Or even restructure and save 4-5MM in cap space) and bring one of them in. Crawford would not be hard to replace in FA as there are some backup caliber DTs out there.

I'd love to get a few JW Blues in Jerry and listen to him explain why they value Crawford that much.
So, if he costs 8m to cut him and 9m to keep him, it seems like it would be dumb to cut him.

Can we go out and spend that 1m and find someone better?

I know people don’t like him but if he were available for 1m, they’d feel differently.

Try looking at it that way and it makes perfect logical sense.

Not lose $8MM to cut him.

You SAVE $8MM if you cut him.

Cowboys may end up releasing him before all is said and done if they need the cap space to sign a player until then I see him as a safety net of someone who can rotate at DE or DT. This is the last year on his deal. I think his future is tied to who the Cowboys try to get signed.

He started at RDE in 2018 and 2017. .

And then was promptly kicked inside when Gregory started to play well in 2018.

He's not a great starting DE. Griffen is much better. Why not go out and get a better DE and then at least restructure Crawford and kick him back inside or let him float?

As I stated on the first page why not move tank to RDE?

Any plan that has Crawford as a starting DE doesn't seem palatable to me. He's an average starting DE.

There is a guy out there in FA that's a better DE than him and won't cost an arm and a leg. Go get that guy, then either restructure Crawford and make him a swing/DT guy or just cut him.

This team would be better with Griffen starting opposite Lawrence than Crawford starting opposite Lawrence. Crawford is what he is........... I have zero issues with him being on this team, just not as our starting DE or at the $9MM cap hit.

But according to you every player on the Cowboys is average to horrible.

It's truly amazing the lengths that some fans feel the need to go in an effort to excuse clearly bad decisions. Some sort of a bizarre defense mechanism where they are incapable of admitting the obvious and what has already been proven to be true.

Incredibly, some people apparently have no issues going back to a time before Quinn arrived, when this team was getting 0 pressure and 0 sacks from the RDE position, arguably the most important pass rush position in football (2nd most at the very least).

Oh look, Rockport wants to inject his stupidity on another thread.

He's not intelligent enough to debate actual issues so he has to resort to making up nonsense and lies that people never said. Not equipped for actual debate.

I care because I want to alert folks about you and him that you have no clue what you are talking about. The vets here know, but the newbies don't. Just doing my part to make this a better place.

Your case sounds logical. Maybe the Cowboys know something that you are leaving out. Crawford on the roster does nothing for me and it would be nice to have the extra $8MM.

Keep making false statements like that. You expose yourself for being clueless with every one. Like I said, you're not smart.

The irony here is that I bet most posters here, especially the long time ones, view you as kind of a fool who offers little to the board in terms of football analysis or insights or discussions, instead spending your time going around thread to thread to whine about the "meanies" not saying nice things about the Cowboys.

Nobody has ever asked for, nor needed you "alerting" then to anything. It's your mental illness kicking in as well as your below average intelligence. You're not intelligent enough to grasp the fact that not everyone thinks the way that you do.

And truth be told, you make this a worse place by being here, not better. If you're ever unsure about that fact, solicit opinions. You're despised here and the fact that you're still permitted to post is a great mystery.

If there's was ever a vote concerning having that clown banned, I know what the results would be - in a landslide.

Purely wishful thinking on some people's part that Everson Griffen is lusting after a salary of 8 mill. His recently voided contract was paying him an average of 14.5mill. Clearly he wants more than he was making.
This is the 2020 equivalent of trading for some other team's superstar for Dexter Coakley and a pair of Cowboy cheerleader panties.

And if, just if, you're trying to negotiate Griffin down, do you cut Crawford, your only #1 guaranteed RDE on your roster, for someone whose idea of a good paycheck is northward of 14.5?
