Any plan that has Crawford as a starting DE doesn't seem palatable to me. He's an average starting DE.

There is a guy out there in FA that's a better DE than him and won't cost an arm and a leg. Go get that guy, then either restructure Crawford and make him a swing/DT guy or just cut him.

This team would be better with Griffen starting opposite Lawrence than Crawford starting opposite Lawrence. Crawford is what he is........... I have zero issues with him being on this team, just not as our starting DE or at the $9MM cap hit.

I'm not the guy "deceiving" anyone. I said the cost was $10 million. His total cap hit was $10 million last year. You added 'salary' to my statement when it was never in it. There's your "deception". Crawford is here on a reduced cap hit as a swing guy or he's gone. I just don't think we've improved if we just make Crawford the starting DE by default.

It's settling kind of like we did at WR where the logic was we can get by with a "by committee" approach. That failed and this likely will too unless Gregory just turns into a super stud almost right from the get go.

I might even buy this logic if this was considered a really strong draft for DEs where you would be in good shape to grab one at 17 but after Young, it's really a hodge podge of guys. When the next best edge player might be a kid from Wisconsin who is like 235 pounds, it's not a strong draft for defensive ends.

A career high 6 sacks in a season for Gregory. Where he wasn't even the designated 'starter' on gamedays. (but that's yet another symptom of the dysfunctional arrangements on this team). Anybody 'counting' on him to somehow walk in a be a force are fooling themselves, and basing their opinion on hopes rather than facts.

It's not. The strengths and depth of this draft do not align with our current strengths and weaknesses.
