I didn’t realize it , but Looney did not grade out well when he filled in for Travis. He graded out poorly to be honest from the numbers I saw. McGovern may be the answer. If not, draft a stud to replace Travis. The OL is only as good as the OC.

McGovern should start at center. Williams at LG

Plus, I seriously doubt Looney was to blame for all the sacks allowed two years ago. The Cowboys are still in good shape up front. I think McGovern can be the long term solution.

What a joke!!!!!!!!!!! Travis should of came out well before this time & date with this decision. Personally I think some of his thinking is because of the virus. If JJ & Co knew about this retirement then they probably have a plan in place to use a 1st or 2nd rd pick to replace Travis. Does anyone know how this is going to affect the cap? Are we going to get hit with a lot of DEAD $$$$?

Looney has started in this league and McGovern has the pedigree to play in this league

It creates another HUGE hole on a team with already too many huge holes. The line pretty much crumbled last time he was out.

The strength of our team is now a weakness. Any chance of the team making a deep run pretty much just went out the window.

Looney can be a decent starting C but I'd pounce in the draft if the right guy is there.

if the right guy is there, sure. If Connor McGovern is starter quality, probably makes more sense to play him at center

This hurts, Fredrick is a great guy and a better player, if that’s possible. Always enjoyed watching him control the line on Sunday’s. He seems at peace, which is the main thing. I pray he’s healthy, and remains that way, here’s to hoping for a great life after football!

I feel like the organization knew about this, hence why they addressed the safety position as well as the DT position, this allows them to use a high pick on a center. Pardon me for asking, but hopefully someone more in tune with the draft can help, how does this class of centers look?

Exactly.

it sucks that Fred is retiring. He is a great player. I wish he wasn’t.

but the cowboys are just about as well positioned as you can be with a pro bowl player retiring. They have a guy with solid starter experience. They have a 3rd round pick who can play the position and there is still the draft.

Agree. Frederick was a shell of himself last year anyway... McGovern is a really good prospect and he came into the league with nfl strength and anchor immediately.
