When’s the last time a player came to Dallas because our QB was a winner?

The good thing is, the text and context are provided in my last post. If you want to believe that says anything more or less than it actually says, I won’t stop you.
It ACTUALLY says the team's success is why he came. Talking up Watson as a key part of that success doesn't change the fact that the team success was what he cited as the reason.

Which is more likely - that he would come to Houston because of Watson, regardless of team success, or that he would come to Houston even without Watson as long as their was team success? Do you really not see the point that team success was the key factor.

He specifically said so. These were the words.

The reason I picked the Texans is, obviously, I think that you look at what they’ve been able to do over the past few years,” Cobb said. “[They] went to the playoffs four of the past five times.

Houston has been a very solid team since Watson took over and the AFC is a joke. Now that New England sucks again, the only team obviously better than them in the AFC is KC.

The NFC on the other hand is stacked and just got more crowded with Brady joining Tampa. Good move for Cobb.
It is a good move for Cobb..no doubt.

I wonder how Dak took this quote.

It seems like it downplays Dak as not being a winner.

And the only other QB Cobb played for was Rodgers.

We know he is considered a winner by most fans.

Hmmmm..

I think it has less to do with Dak and more to do with Cobb thinking Houston was closer to a title than Dallas. That could be for a number of reasons. Cobb had a great season with Dak as his QB.

Emphasis yours. The text of the quote is there. As far as I’m concerned, it’s obvious and doesn’t change with a larger font or when you put it in bold.

The text is there, and it says exactly what I say it did. Again, would he have come for Watson regardless of the team success (not to mention the money)? Of course not - the winning, as he specifically said, was what brought him to Houston (and, though he didn't say it, the money).

Was the fact that me mentioned O'Brien a slap at McCarthy? If he had mentioned what a great player Watt is, would that have been a slap at Lawrence? Was the fact a year ago he said he was excited to play with Dak a slap at Rodgers?

Sorry, but I think you are reading too much into a guy just trying to say the right things with regard to his new team.

What you ridiculously don’t get is the question “what has he won” and the answer “the NCAA championship” has nothing to do with whether winning the NCAA championship will equate to winning in the NFL. This thread is about Cobb’s comments in an article, and my explaining to you what Cobb said he had won was just giving you the information you missed by not reading the article. It was not commentary on what having won the NCAA championship means, it was answering your question about what Cobb said Watson had won.

Again, you didn’t bother to read and understand what Cobb said, nor did you bother to understand what I wrote.
I read it and yeah, LOL, I understand it. It’s just nothing but bull**** as I’ve repeatedly said. But you keep on trying to convince everyone that it’s important!

What's funny is that it really appears as if the Texans are on the way down.

Show me once where I said it was important. Just once. I'll wait …

The problem here is either you just wont admit you didn't bother reading what you commented on, or you just have trouble comprehending what you read.

You asked what Cobb was talking about in saying Watson was a winner. I gave you what he said, which was that Watson won in high school and college. I passed along information you needed to understand what Cobb was saying. I did not comment on the validity of what he was saying other than to say it is true that Watson won in college.

But, irrationally, you want to attribute things to Cobb that he did not say, and you want to attribute things to me I did not say. You are fabricating your comments to fit what you choose to believe rather than understanding what was actually said and responding rationally to that.

I’m not even necessarily talking about you. I’m talking about his statement in general. It’s total bull**** and anyone with half a brain knows it. He signed for the $$$. End of story. The rest is bull****.

You said that I keep trying to convince you it's important. That was directed toward me, and it's nonsense. I never said that. For that matter, Cobb himself didn't even say winning in college guarantees anything in the NFL, he just said he believes Watson has been a winner before and he thinks he has what it takes to win in the NFL as well.

Well, you sure seem hellbent on perpetuating Watson’s statement. Let’s just say what I’ve been saying all along. His statement is total bull**** and leave it at that.

Complimenting Deshaun is not a slight at Dak lol for those who wanna irrationally make that connection
The way in which he did it is.
It's one thing if he said, "I see Watson developing into a great quarterback who needs more weapons. I will enjoy playing with him."
But he didn't leave it there. He said …
"I think he has that ability to take us to a Super Bowl and I want to be a part of something special with him."
Reading between the lines, he is basically saying that he doesn't think Dak and the Cowboys will get to the Super Bowl. I don't see how one can interpret it any other way when Cobb's emphasis is on the quarterback position and getting him to a Super Bowl.
Either that, or he's lying and trying to find a way to justify why he signed for more money - that being the motivating reason behind his playing in Houston.
I suspect that's the case.

No need to apologize for being wrong on the internet. I’m comfortable agreeing to disagree at this point.

The McCarthy quip was just a joke, for the record.

His statement is his statement. It's not mine to perpetuate. The problem was you imagining I said something I didn't. If you want to have a different opinion than Cobb on whether Watson can win in the NFL, feel free, but ultimately you are getting bent over a simple interview where Cobb is merely trying to say some nice things about his new team and QB. .

I think that’s just digging much deeper than needed. Cobb just had his best season in 4 years with Dak, nothing really leads us to believe that Randall looked back at one of his better seasons (that just netted him 30M) and said “You know what Dak just wasn’t good enough.”

Dude got a contract no other front office would offer, this probably played the biggest role in his departure. Deshaun is a beast and saying so doesn’t insinuate Dak isn’t capable of getting the job done.

Especially without hearing his voice or seeing his body language while saying it, it’s impossible to deduce and “read between the lines”.

So Randall Cobb called the guy that will be throwing him the ball "a winner"? Now I've heard it all.

My observation is predicated on whether I think Cobb is telling the truth rather than coping an excuse to justify him talking the most lucrative offer.
I do think he joined Houston because of money. But if I believed otherwise, I would think his comments about Watson were directly connected to how he felt about Dak.
Cobb isn't dumb. Neither are most players in terms of how they craft statements not to throw shade on former players. If they make such statements that are open to interpretation, my experience as a reporter tells me that they are throwing shade, just in a subtle way.
Can I prove this? No. Just my hunch. But not a hill to die on.
