Hey Guys,
What do you think of Antoine Winfield Jr? He is a ball hawk! Something the Cowboys have not had in a while and could really use more turnovers. A big added bonus is his punt return capabilities as well.

I would love to see the Cowboys grab him in the second round.
Imagine if they get Javon Kinlaw in the first and this guy in the second.

I don't know...maybe he is not a great prospect. Any thoughts would be great!

Would love to get him in the second but it seems his stock is rising and maybe an early second or late first

Great instincts but 5'9" with average athleticism.

It's nice that he returns punts but I don't really want the starting FS to return punts especially when he is an undersized Safety which already increases his probability for injury.

I like the player. But I'm not sure I like the fit in Dallas. If I'm going to have a small playmaker at FS..I need a better SS than what we have right now..I need a physical player that's a sure tackler that would bring a certain level of physicality to the team..we don't have that..so if I drafted Winfield, I would need to go find that other guy..which I do think is attainable..I just need to be prepared for it

1 year of production as a senior, always injured, medium athleticism, small.

0 interest in him before the 4th round or so.

Well, his Dad was a heck of a tackler, even though he was similar in stature. He's listed as 5'10, 205 lbs. That's bigger then Antoine Winfield Sr. Who was only listed at 5'9, 180 lbs.

Winfield Jr. might end up being a better SS fit in the NFL.

He's grown on me some but I'm kind of there with you.

I also wonder how a legacy kid goes unrecruited by his dad's alma mater.

I'm a little higher on him than you lol.

But I do agree with your first statement. I would get him in the 2nd if he is there. But a lot of red flags for him.

I see a lot of Honey Badger in Winfield. Borderline NFL size, but both of them are ballers who continually make plays on the field.

The injuries are a bigger concern for me, being medical redshirted twice in four years is a major red flag.

Unwritten but known rule in player personnel:

Oft-injured college guy = oft-injured NFL guy

I'd say he's a lot more like Bob Sanders...including the injuies lol.

Winfield doesn't have nearly the athleticism to cover slot WRs like Matthieu.

Agreed. And guys with that many red flags don’t go in the 2nd. Good player, but I won’t be surprised if he’s there on day three.

He's got a better 40 than Mathieu, better vertical, better broad, didn't do the agility drills... anyway, I'm not seeing how they are in two different zip codes. Winfield's 40 and jumps are all above-average for NFL corners, so I think he could definitely come down and play man on smaller receivers.

This is a guy who I bet will fall in the draft because of the uncertain times we are in. Winfield basically missed two full seasons because of injuries and teams can’t perform there own medicals because prospects are not allowed to visit.

I really like the two safeties from the small schools - Chinn and Dugger but I know McClay stays away from small school prospects.

Combine 5-9, 203

Straight baller! Best Safety in the draft.

This guy has insticts that you could only have if your Dad happened to be an NFL Hall of Famer and you studied tape your whole life.
His football IQ must be through the roof. Impressive to watch. I wish we could find a way to get him.

Winfield Jr. is one of my favorite pet cats in the entire draft. When you talk about a safety, it's more about instincts, being always around the football, being able to read and react quickly. Many safeties have all the benchmark measurements teams seek but lack the necessary instincts that the position requires. I do believe Winfield has elite instincts, yes he has some size limitations, but so do many others around the league. Isn't Earl Thomas 5'10? The biggest concern is Winfield's lack of durability. Will be become another Bob Sanders? That's what teams have to determine. I doubt the Cowboys are interested, but some team is going to get one heck of a player!
