If Kirk is so good, why are the Cardinals willing to trade him instead of some other WRs? It's not like the Cardinals are that good to begin with.
define "that good"?
He's a solid WR and was WR2 last year.
ARI just added Hopkins and obviously likes Andy Isabella (drafted round 2 last year by this staff) more.

He was losng his WR2 job for sure and thus becomes available for other teams.

I think he is ideally a WR3 return guy.
That would be the role here.
But he is not cheap for long and doesn't have much ceiling.

All that said he is vastly superior player to Tavon Austin and would be he WR3 if roster ended as it is today.

But again I think you can get better players in this draft into round 3.
There's zero way I trade for Kirk before I know whats on the clock in round 3.

Draft Denzel Mims (6'3", 210, 4.38 40, big, strong, proved at the Senior Bowl and at the Combine that he can run all routes and get separation very well when he chooses to, can play all 3 WR positions (X, Y and Z (as a big slot WR)), would be a much bigger/easier target for Dak who tends to throw high at times, etc. Imagine a shorter/slower DB trying to cover him?

But, nah, let's go with a shorter/slower WR because that is the prototype common standard.
Slower? No.

I like both players.

I would only trade for Kirk if he can be had for a 4th or later.

I didn’t backtrack but supposedly were interested in trading for Goodwin from niners as well

BTW middle ground is probably right here.

He is NOT an elite return guy. Not even really GOOD.
But we were hot trash and he is better than what we had.

He is not good in any real facet at WR other than speed.
But he is a legit all-around option as a depth WR.
He's just not a plus starter.

Def worth round 4/5 type picks because he is a legit NFL WR.
Def not worth round 1/2 type picks.

I wouldn't give up Round 3 but someone might.

I'd rather draft a WR at this point. Or see if any of the depth WRs can fill the 3rd spot. or both. Really see no reason for this unless it's a 5th or later. Maybe a conditional pick?

Looking at skillset and what he did in college, I think he needs to be primarily the slot WR, where he excelled at A&M. IMO, ARI tried to make him into a 1 or 2, and that was a mistake.

Saw one mock had us taking the Penn St receiver with 4.2 forty speed in the 2nd.

I'm not sure he has the short area quickness for full-time slot.

But think he could be good as a WR that mixes slot and outside role like they will in DAL. (Amari kills in slot)

He's definitely a usable piece but not not an upper end slot. More median which is fine, especially at his cost right now.

His scouting report says he does. Maybe ARI didn't use him that way?

So many potentially good/very good receivers in the draft. Giving up a 5th would be a yes, 4th would be tempting and a 3rd is a no.

These are my thoughts as well.

Fourth round however, has been our money round as of late. 7 of the 8 picks are still active in the league. Two just won a Super bowl

Pollard
Armstrong, Schultz
Switzer
Tapper, Prescott
Wilson
Hitchens

I'd rather feature Jarwin in the passing game. Truth is, 120+ catches left with Cobb and Witten. The 3rd receiver is important in our offense, but it can be our tight end. Its been a long time since we've had an inexperienced guy manning the slot.

Last time we trotted out an inexperienced guy as the 3rd WR was in 2012 with Kevin Ogletree exploding week 1 against the Giants and ended up being passed by Dwayne Harris in the depth chart. That year, Witten and Dez both had over 1,000 yards and Miles Austin came close as well. Thats kind of the setup we have entering 2020, if Jarwin can take that step and catch 80+ balls.

Just seems like this franchise is chasing its own tail, and trading draft picks away to cover up deficiencies is a losing game.
Trade away a first for Cooper, and now when your presented with one of the deepest WR draft classes in years, we consider trading yet another valuable draft pick away for
another WR?
Its playing from behind when you start making transactions like this.
I want to be the franchise for once, that is so stock piled at a position, that we are in the drivers seat, and trading that asset away for future stock.
This direction is futile.
