Jags release WR Marqise Lee - Signs with Patriots

When I look at the Dallas Cowboys 2019 roster, I see alot of wide receivers listed Besides Coop and Gallup. If fans are telling the team to draft a wideout in Thursday's draft, why are some of these guys even on our roster??

Well because you need at least 6 receivers. Some of them play special teams. As of right now there seems to be a void at the slot.

According to Ian Rappaport, he is has been cleared medically.
Seems like we can get rid of one of our needs without giving away or using a pick. Had two really good years in 2017 and 2018.

Not sure Lee is any better than Devin Smith at this point. If Smith is the player he looked like last summer, Dallas can put him and Michael Gallup out wide and use Amari Cooper in the slot in three-wide sets.

I am 100% sure a healthy Marquise Lee is way better and a huge upgrade over anyone at WR on the Cowboys roster not named Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup.

I'm very familiar with Lee and yes, injuries have been issue.

Knowing Lee, he is going to be playing with a chip on his shoulder for his new team. Talented and dangerous receiver.

The roster limit is 90 during the off-season and 53 during the season. That's 37 players needed above the ones that will make the roster...

True. But this is also a team that best moves of their off season came from other teams "garbage" in Cobb and Quinn.

This time last year we had 13 on the roster including Cooper, Gallup, Cobb, Hurns and Austin.

Some injury history to be sure but there’s some upside. It would be worth a call to his agent to see what he’s looking for.

I’m not a believer in Devin Smith.

He had a few catches in training camp and that one TD against Washington but that’s it. He didn’t do anything when he got his chance to start last year after Gallup was hurt. He had two starts and only caught two passes.

He’s not a new guy either. He was drafted five years ago. He had two major knee injuries and didn’t even play in 17 and 18 and, as I said, he didn’t show much.

If our WR squad wasn’t in such bad shape he probably wouldn’t make the team and we would have read a story about him being cut this week along with Lenoir

Marqise Lee has had injuries as well but he’s shown much more than Smith and I don’t think there’s really a comparison here.

Lee won’t set the world on fire at this point but he would instantly be our third best WR and is a legit NFL player.

I doubt anyone will sign him before the draft But I think it still be worth a call to his agent to let him know we might want him on Sunday.

they are training camp bodies who made the final roster to play special teams
