There's talent, but 20 first rounders? I'm not buying it. Most draftniks said they had 16-18 players TOTAL with first round grades.

I guess if the argument is that after the top 20 players, the next 30 are basically a wash, I'm in agreement. Which is why in round 2 there's not really a BPA argument, since it's near impossible to differentiate and say which player is really the BPA.

I’d trade our 3rd + 4th. Or our 3rd + next year’s 3rd or something.

I counted 11 guys that are still available that are either EDGE, CB or S that would help us out and are great value.

You’re right. It seems like a big amount of round one talent in the second. I can think of 10 off top of my head

I think they are saying guys that could have gone in the first 32. They aren't talking about grades. The Cowboys had 19 first round grades and claim that two are still available.

I know we're relying on older tackles and suspended ends, but I believe if things work out there we currently have more talent on the DL than we do at DB.

If we could somehow swing Johnson and McKinney, I'd feel pretty good about the competition we'd have on the back end.

You guys are reading it wrong. He didn’t say there are 20 1st round graded players left. He said 20 that could have gone in the 1st round. Big difference. There were probably 16-20 1st round graded players on most boards from what we have heard but 32 must go. What this means is he thinks that there are still 20 guys that are equal to the guys that went in the 2nd half of the 1st.

Being better than some first rounders in other drafts (potentially better - it's just prediction at this point) doesn't make a player a 1st round talent. It's not a set in stone level that can be measured, it's merely how people perceive a player matching up within his specific draft class.

I just hope we don’t revert back to the theme we’ve used in previous second rounds by selecting a player with a first round grade who’s coming off a serious injury or has had drug/off the field issues that caused them to fall. We’ve had a pattern of taking some real gambles in the second round and it hasn’t paid off real well. We need to make a smart, safe pick with a player we can count on who can help us immediately. I have no problem taking a big gamble on a player later on but not with a premium pick. We have an opportunity to come away with two starters with our first two picks.
