My understanding is that McCarthy was answering a question about not drafting a safety. This doesn't at all mean that he's planning to move one of the cornerbacks. He's only saying they can if they need to.

That’s the thing it’s the final year of his contract and he hasn’t really impressed. He’s had his share of struggles and got pulled in a game for not wanting to get physical. With the Cowboys drafting two corners the 2020 season if there is one is pretty much going to be or die for him with the Cowboys.
