Are the Eagles trying to mimic the Chiefs Offense

We are all well aware that Doug Peterson worked under Andy Reid before he became the Eagles new HC. Looking at their draft class, they certainly upgraded the speed at the WR position. The Chiefs have crazy speed demons in Ty Hill & Hardman, with an elite pass catching TE in Kelce. Now the Eagles can run out a similar personnel grouping with Reagor/D Jackson and Zach Ertz. It's going to be a difficult offense to defend.

Interesting post. Good point.

I thought it was impressive how the Eagles were able to win games without any sort of deep threat after all of the injuries last season. So their offense should be on another level to what they had on show.

I do think teams are constantly evolving to become difficult to figure out each season. Chiefs added CEH in the first round, tweaking their offense with further plays.

Interesting how our offense works out given we have an excellent receiving corp, pass catching TE and two quality backs.

Speed and diversity. Mahomes is the big difference. But who wouldn't like to copy them?

I like what the Cowboys are doing. They should be every bit as potent with a REAL coach unleashing everyone.

Running game for Cowboys is much better than KC if used properly and less predictable.

My only big concern is Looney and Williams manning the middle of the line. That could kill everything.

I think they will at least match Frederick's production from last season, which was solid, not great.

I don't. IF its Looney and Williams again coming off knee injury it could be as bad as 2018.

Remember we got a bonus pick this year in McGovern who had a 2nd rd grade. I actually saw Williams get better last season prior to his injury.

yep...……..that is a rookie, that hasn't played football in a year, coming off injury that is a guard, not a true center.

If Philly wants to mimic KC, it isn’t only Mahomes that they’re lacking... they’d need a hall of fame coach that is one of the most brilliant offensive minds that the game has ever seen. Reid is terrific.

Philly lost their only bright offensive mind when Frank Reich moved on to Indy.

I figured they were trying to mimic NO and what they do with Hill. Maybe they are looking to blend KC and NO offense into one.

Wentz is a good QB but Mahomes is what separates KC from everyone else on paper.

If that’s what they are doing they don’t get it. Hurts is not some hybrid running back/receiver/quarterback. He’s a quarterback.

Well hell what role does Jalen Hurts play in that offense?

Taysom Hill. Or so they will try. Hurts can run. He had 850+ rushing yards in 2017 with Alabama and almost 1300 last year with Oklahoma.

Taysom Hill doesn’t play for the Chiefs though.
Fair enough, I'll answer the original question.

No, I don't think they are trying to mimic KC. I think this comes down to two things. Either they don't trust Wentz to stay healthy, or as someone else said, this is a bizarre case of them trying to outsmart everyone else and fit a round peg into a square hole. I suspect the latter. I suspect they will try to use Hurts as a situational QB, much like Taysom Hill is used in NO. Since Hill in NO is probably the first time I've seen a situational QB have any success, that is the most logical comparison. Unlike Hill though, who carries the football and even goes out wide, Hurts is a much more orthodox QB.

Basically it's really hard to see how this benefits them. Usually, when teams make picks like this, it is a sign of larger problems beneath the surface, whether it be incompetence or locker room fulminations, and it gives me confidence for us against them next year.

All IMO of course. I guess we will find out if Doog really is the genius we are told he is. Maybe Hurts will start.
