Exactly. So the guy can tackle. Wow! Let's give up a prime weapon from the offense. No thanks.
Plus he wants to be highest paid player. I much rather roll with what we got and grab safety next year in the draft. McCarthy has already shown he values the positions we have been screaming for during the Garrett era like DT. They haven't even played a game yet and McCarthy has brought in Poe, McCoy, Gallimore at DT and Haha Clinton-Dix at safety.

If safety had of been the best player available at one of their picks this year in the draft I'm certain he would have been picked.

Reggie Robinson might play safety or maybe even Awuzie. Some of these Cowboy fans panic and go over board way to quickly and panic way too much

I’m all in on Jamal Adams.

But now I’m even more in love with the idea of having three stud WRs terrifying defenses while opening up the run game for Zeke. Plus we have Gallup on a cheap deal for two more years.

I want Adams. And honestly that trade favors us big time. But I don’t wanna do it.

I wonder if the Jets will let Marcus Maye walk since they drafted a safety high. Everyone’s talking about Jamal bc he’s an all pro and righty so, but Maye is a real fine young safety himself.

I'm not advocating dealing Gallup for the guy, but anyone who says Adams isnt an impact player or is average hasn't seen him play much.

I'm not going to sit here and insult people and say they dont know what they are talking about, but be honest...if you think this guy has no game you havent seen him play all that much.

Then you aren't "all in" on Adams. lol
Lol touche.

Honestly, if I were forced to choose, I'd probably do it. Jamal Adams is a top 5 defensive player in the league and he's only 24 years old. He could have a massive effect on our defense.

I'd hate to lose Gallup cause I think he's gonna be great, but I feel silly saying I'd rather have a great WR3 than a DPOY candidate.

Apparently people value two years of Gallup more than a 1st rounder, because a lot of people were ready to give up a 1st for Adams.

I love Gallup, but if this deal were on the table it's an easy decision for me. Get the All-Pro SS. If we're thinking ahead and looking at second contracts, Gallup won't be cheap either.

So you don't want a deep threat 1,000 + yard reciever for Dak. You don't want our offense to be scary with Lamb, Cooper, Gallup, Zeke, Pollard, etc. But an in box SS is gonna make our defense the '84 Bears.

...without getting turnovers. 46 games = 2 int's.

Same people who don't like Adams will be the first complaining in the game thread when Woods screws up another coverage, or misses another tackle...

Strong safeties impact games alright. I've been watching two decades of it.

Jet would never do it anyway.

1) Jamal Adams is a young Pro Bowl Safety
2) They have Denzel Mimms, Jamison Crowder, Brashan Perriman, and Quincey Enunwa as their top 4 WRs...so now in pretty good shape.

Absolutely not. WR is a position of strength, you don't make it average for the sake of improving a non-impact position.

I mean, ask yourself this. 3rd and 5, would you want Adams in man coverage on Gallup? Absolutely not.

Not impactful getting int's. You value in box SS more than me.

I don't think it's that at all. Trading a first rounder for Adams allows you to keep your offense from losing a valuable piece in Gallup. Trading Gallup makes you weaker on offense and less explosive.

If players are involved as far as trading goes, I'm going with a guy like Antwaun Woods and/or one of the million DE on the roster and a draft pick or two.

Better at his position? He plays SS. Gallup has deep speed and will face alot of one on one coverage with both Cooper and Lamb on the field. Plus defenses still have to account for Zeke/Pollard. I'll take the guy who's a threat to score every time over an in box SS.

Yeah I didn't make a decision one way or the other in my original post.

I would keep the WR over the box SS everytime. But Adams is the best at his position, which is why there should be some consideration here.

Not for Gallup. I want to see what this offense can do with CeeDee Lamb added to the mix. If we're not putting up 30 to 40 points a game, DiNucci better get ready in the bull pen.

You know last year we had 3 stud WRs too,,, Randall Cobb is pretty dang good. I'm not sure that our offensive ceiling hasn't already been seen and deemed lacking... basically McCarthy needs to tap into some undiscovered capabilities.

You're not trading for a box safety.

You're trading for a FS, SS, Slot CB, and an elite blitzer.

Adams is going to cost 15 mil AAV to re-sign in two years, but guess what Gallup is going to cost in two years? I'd bet around the same amount in AAV.

No way would I break up what could be the strongest WR receiving corp in the league for a safety who isn’t a ball hawk. Adding Lamb along with Amari and Gallup gives us a three headed monster at receiver. Good luck watching defenses try and defend them. Part of the excitement of drafting Lamb is adding him to what we already have. This could end up being the best three best WRs the Cowboys have ever had on the same team.

Cobb had games when he didn't show up too.

@vnick The Jets would not even do Adams for Lamb straight up. The Jets want way too much for him.

They wanted a ridiculous amount last year. Only 3 free agents this year went for over 4mil AAV. I don't know why we haven't gotten a cheap SS in free agency in recent years, but that's usually the way to go.

This year it's a problem that our top guys, Dix and Woods, are both short timers, and getting *another* short timer in free agency limits our ability to develop young guys.
