I think like most of us, I was puzzled when I heard DiNucci’s name called. I thought they’d go with Gordon if they went QB, but really I thought they’d pick either Benito Jones or Thaddeus Moss.

But I’ve started to read about Mike McCarthy’s new pet project and people are saying some amazing things about him.

If you read one Cowboys’ article today, read this one.

Start there. That’s about as in-depth an article that you will ever read for a 7th round pick. Here are some highlights.
What I found was quite shocking. He’s better than I could have ever imagined
About his accuracy..
Has the wherewithal to deliver accurate strikes to the short to intermediate areas even without a sturdy base underneath him.
About his decision making and ability to read defenses...
Seems to have an innate ability to get defensive lines to jump offsides and get free plays.

Looks to have been given freedom at the line to change plays based off defensive look. Didn't look to sideline for checks.

Dude is slick. He's super slippery back there avoiding the first rusher. Does an outstanding job keeping his eyes downfield scanning the field to find holes
“He’s very accurate” is what McCarthy said.

I’d say so, 70.9% completion percentage (stats) and boy does he put the ball right on the money. Throws well on the run too.

Did I mention that the kid can scramble away from pressure and get first downs? In 2019 he ran for 569 yards and 7 touchdowns (his o-line wasn’t very good so a lot of the time he was running for his life)

I’ll just leave this last tweet here without comment. :)

Great post!

I knew nothing of Ben. So I spent over 2 hours reading about him and watching some videos Saturday night. I have to admit I was blown away and couldn't believe there was no news about him before the draft. It was easy to see why he didn't make it to post draft udfa territory. This kid can straight up throw the football.

Rush has every reason to worry about his roster spot. In fact, I expect him to lose it. Much of how DiNucci plays reminds me a lot of Romo. The same Romo moxie we saw for years was on video. I'm thrilled with this pick and can't wait to see him summer 2021 after a year in the system.

Yes, I very much hope he can beat out Rush. If he can serve as a backup for a few years learning under McCarthy, I think he will prove to be very similar to Romo.

Yeah why not give Dak his short term wishes. Sign him to a freaking 3 year deal if you need to. We can resign him if he thrives under MM and if he doesn't maybe we can develop this kid or someone else. Not trying to derail the thread, just saying stock piling talent and having options isnt neccesarily a bad thing.
