I agree but to wear the 88 with a "blue chip" prospect will fair a whole lot better. If this was not the case was is JJ forcing 88 on him?

Fans will buy the jersey to show their support for that player. However I don't think this has anything to do with putting money into Jerry pocket. You could give Lamb any number and fans will buy it because they are excited about him and want to show their support of him.

If giving the number out to someone new means the team is officially making it clear they're not onboard for the stupid Bring Back Dez idea, it's good.

Though Lamb caving after he'd apparently made it clear he didn't want it is a disappointment. Jerry, as a marketer, just can't help himself sometimes.
“When we were, this is a little drama from our perspective, when we were all sitting there and had said our piece, and then we said, ‘okay, what’s it going to be?’ I said in honor of my great friend that just passed this year we’re going to have his namesake come on here and wear old number 88,” Jones said, via RJ Ochoa of Blogging the Boys. “Just like Michael and Dez and those guys, and we’ve got us a wide receiver. And let me tell you one thing if he’s got the competes and heart of that Jerry Lamb he’ll be bad to the bone.”

That doesn't sound anything like Lamb caving at all but rather good ol' Jerruh being Jerruh.

I could give two craps about disrespecting Dez, but the #88 creates a lot of pressure. He doesn’t even want that number. Jerry is just thinking about jersey sales. It would be cooler to see a lot of 10’s out there instead of the worn out 88.

None of the people whining about this know anything about the personal conversations that have been going on between Lamb and Jerry, nor can any of you attempt to speak to how Lamb really feels about this.

As much as I love to pile onto Jerry's idiocy, this seems much ado about nothing.

Lol because we know all the information we need to know.

Lamb openly wants 10.

Jerry openly wants him to wear 88.

You hoping that there is some other silver lining is silly.

Lamb will come out and give the company line eventually and say the right things.

I don’t care..

Someone should do it..

People want a player that plays for the team and his teammates. Dez cared about the Cowboys more then anyone including people running this thing.

Was he a little rough around the edges and a headache at times? Yeah..

But a lot of the Dez “drama” was fans on this forum being suckers for whatever narrative the media wanted to point them to that day.

He’s the all time leader in TD catches and he went through a slump by his standards when we switched to a young QB and a run 1st offense and now people want to hate him.

Im also not ok with celebrating Witten as he goes out the door and welcoming him right back and then completely shunning Dez and not giving him a 2nd opportunity.

and explain the outrage, because you want him back and now that the number has been issued to Lamb it signals Dez not returning as some hoped.

I own Dak and Zeke jerseys. I don't have #88 for the Playmaker or Dez. But I'd imagine if I did, I wouldn't buy another #88 jersey just because Cee Dee has it. Wouldn't make sense to me.

Cowboys would sell way more #10 jerseys if Jerry just lets Cee Dee wear what he wants.

I want Dez to get a tryout.

I admit it’s pointless now because of Lamb unless they have some other role for him.

I hope Dez goes somewhere and thrives and if he smacks Dallas up somewhere along the way then it will be deserved.

I take more stock in winning championships. Records are great, the TD leader is great but the league was a passing league when Dez came in. The other 88's played in different times and won Super Bowls. That's my standard, sorry.
They didnt win alone. Its a team game. Dez could have won with Jimmy, Aikman, and Emmitt too.

This reminds me of Antonio Bryant. That dude was a BEAST. I know he didn't have a beast of a career. But I remember his rookie year.

He was.

Folks don’t seem to remember his QB was Q. Carter, Anthony Wright, et cetera.

He end up at Tampa Bay and Cleveland with a halfway competent QBs (comparably to what he played w/in Dallas) and puts together nice seasons.

He was immature and apparently a bit of a nut job but he was very talented.

Exactly.

If you like to wear jerseys then this has to come off as lame.. I can’t see this as a good business decision.. I’m sure they thought it was.

This is seen as overwhelmingly lame by most from what I can tell.

Exactly my thought as well. Whoever has Irvin or Dez or Pearson shirts and jerseys aren’t buying the lamb name on the back w 88.

I don’t want to assume he was forced 88 but I would have preferred #10. That way people don’t have to check the back to see what Jersey you got on. Unless, you are one of the few rockin a, Tavon Austin lol.

This is exactly my opinion as well. A lot of people have #88 Jersey's, including myself. I'm not buying another one. But I'd definitely buy a #10.

This has Probably been mentioned already, but the Cowboys roster is already showing DiNucci at #1 and Lamb at #88. That was not there yesterday.

Terrible in so many ways.

He doesn’t want to wear it.

It won’t look as good as 10.

It’s still too soon to give someone that number and they disrespect Dez again.

Nothing about this sits right with me.

Not buying the jersey. In protest

lol.... 1st we do not know how McCarthy feels about it or if he was asked if he wanted to deal with Dez. This 88 outrage is based on Dez, no outrage when others were given that Jersey but now it is taboo. Dallas moved on, they have some very good talent at WR.
