With his weapons and with a competent coach, I think Dak has a shot at breaking a lot of passing records. I hope they go to a ball control offense, but I think MM is gonna air it out and Dak will be the BEST QB in Cowboys history...

Let's see if he can throw the over the shoulder pass first and foremost and then will talk about records....

I knew posts like this would happen. First states legalize weed, then they quarantine people in their homes for weeks. Anyway, gotta run. Those damn pink alligators have crawled up on the couch again.

Good weekend entertainment

Here are a few stats.

Dak is 6th in passing yards with 15,778 for the team records.
He needs to tie these players, 1421 Dandy Don, 6181 Danny White, 6922 Roger. Of course needs a way to go for Aikman then Tony, 17,114 and 18,395.
TD's he has 97, and needs 38 to tie Dandy Don. 56 to tie Roger.

He is 143rd in the NFL, and with 4000 yards he will move up to around 117th.
TD's in the NFL he is 142nd with 97 TD's, say he get 33 TD's and puts him at 130. He will move up to 104th.
140 total put him at 97th.

Not bad for what will be his 5th year.

If 40 TD's in 2021, it moves him up to 60th all time. Of course this may vary but a few spots, as there are several active QB's ahead of him.

I don't care how many records he breaks.
That's not what makes a quarterback great.
I care how he plays and how many Championship trophies the Cowboys have.
Sure everyone wants championships, but Im not even evaluating/grading Dak on that stat.
You can have the greatest QB to ever play the game, but that doesn't guarantee a team a Lombardi, but it does help.
What you first said is most pragmatic, "I care how he plays".. that's the most important part, I want my franchise QB to prove to me that he can
perform at his best in the "Big" games, that matter the most.
Stats are so ridiculously so over valued and conditionalized when a narrative is trying to be supported, but they actually mean very little.
The bottom line is that this franchise painted themselves into a corner, they have no other option, its bend over time again, and lets support Dak, and his average play, maybe its enough to get into the playoffs, and possibly further.
God help us.

Everyone already knows this, it wasn't the point of the thread.

Troy Aikman once said, if he was told he would go through a season and never complete one pass, but they would win the SB, he would be happy with that.

Sounds great and means obviously a lot to you, but if you ever talked to real NFL Pros, scouts, they don't care a flip about that nonsense.
That's why some small school prospects get drafted every year, and some of them develop into really good/great players in this league.

Dak would only need to average 34 more YPG than he did last year. With a better HC and WRs, it is doable.
Dak would need to average 40 yards more a game to reach that record. That's over 340 yards a game. Anything is possible, but having a guy like Zeke in the backfield doesn't help.

No chance DAk is better then aikman and staubach. We will be very fortunate if he ends better than Romo.

Yah, no chance he can match Aikman's 200 yard per game and 1 TD average.

And the way Aikman used to hand the ball off the Emmitt? No one will ever surpass that.

If Staubach, White or Aikman were playing on this team, as pass happy as the league is, they could easily own those records. They all played on 55% run teams and Staubach and Aikman with D's so they could play ball control. In 2 of the SB years, the Cowboys ran the ball 60% of the time, once with Tony and once with Emmitt.

I will say if Prescott approaches that record, the team doesn't do anything. The top 2 QB's in yards last season sat home in January.
