Yah, no chance he can match Aikman's 200 yard per game and 1 TD average.

And the way Aikman used to hand the ball off the Emmitt? No one will ever surpass that.
3 superbowls. Let’s not act like it was all emmitt. That is like saying it’s all zeke.

If Staubach, White or Aikman were playing on this team, as pass happy as the league is, they could easily own those records. They all played on 55% run teams and Staubach and Aikman with D's so they could play ball control. In 2 of the SB years, the Cowboys ran the ball 60% of the time, once with Tony and once with Emmitt.

I will say if Prescott approaches that record, the team doesn't do anything. The top 2 QB's in yards last season sat home in January.

And if Romo and Dak had the team and coach that Aikman had around them, they would have won multiple Super bowls.

With his weapons and with a competent coach, I think Dak has a shot at breaking a lot of passing records. I hope they go to a ball control offense, but I think MM is gonna air it out and Dak will be the BEST QB in Cowboys history...

We would be better if he doesn’t have to put up as many passing yards as he did last season. Dak is good but he’s no Peyton Manning. Any QB who’s pushing 5000 yards passing is shouldering most of the load. Don’t quote me on this because I haven’t researched it but off the top of my head I don’t believe a QB who’s passed for over 5000 yards won a Super Bowl that season.

I agree. Just saying he has the tools and HC to do it.

Just in case this post isn’t total sarcasm, I’ll have a double shot of whatever you’re on.

I never said it was all Emmitt. It was Emmitt and everyone else on both sides of the ball as well as the coaching. As well as Aikman.

But whenever Aikman didnt have all his weapons or his Oline wasn't HOF caliber...………...he didn't win diddly. Could barely get the job done.

Aikman needed a top level line to keep everyone off of him. He was NOT nimble in the pocket or savvy. Stood tall and hung in there, but he was not good at avoiding the rush.

Sounds great and means obviously a lot to you, but if you ever talked to real NFL Pros, scouts, they don't care a flip about that nonsense.
That's why some small school prospects get drafted every year, and some of them develop into really good/great players in this league.

where do you get it means a lot to me. I was just posting the stats.
And I do know they look at the players on the field over stats.

but it is nice to look at how our players move up the charts. Wouldn’t be a fan if I didn’t look at them.

Drew Brees passed for just over 4300 yards the year he won his only Super Bowl in 09. The previous season he passed for over 5000 yards. Dak has the weapons I just hope McCarthy doesn’t try and turn him into Aaron Rodgers.

I've had more than a double!! But, it still stands. I thinks that this offense will break records it MM runs it that way. I hope he doesn't and runs a balanced offense.

Passing the ball is important, but you need other things. Now if you throw 30 picks like Winston did, then that will kill it.

Mahomes, Brees, Brady, Manning typically were at the top nearly every year in yards and TD's.

QB's are only one component.

I don't care how many records he breaks.
That's not what makes a quarterback great.
I care how he plays and how many Championship trophies the Cowboys have.
Our O is good enough to get us to the championship tier already, at least the players are. We need more from the D to be actual contenders.

I'm not worried about Dak. After watching every single game that he's played as a Cowboy, I can't understand why so many folks around here think that he sux. I'm not saying he has a lock on the HOF, but come on let's get real.

I’m talking about shouldering the load like Aaron Rodgers has had to do in Green Bay. If your QB is having to carry your team it will eventually catch up with you. The year Rodgers won his only Super Bowl in 2010 was only one of two seasons he passed for under 4000 yards. When he’s had to put up a lot of yards the Packers haven’t gotten it done. A lot of times when a QB is having a pass for a lot of yards it means they have a suspect defense. Tom Brady had one 5000 yard season and ended up losing the Super Bowl that year. Peyton Manning set the all-time record for passing yards in a season with over 5400 in 2013 and his team got blown out in the Super Bowl. To be real successful you need a good balance between the pass and the run. A lot of passing yards doesn’t always equate to wins. If you can run the football at will you’re going to win a lot of games because you’re dominating upfront.

No chance DAk is better then aikman and staubach. We will be very fortunate if he ends better than Romo.
I like Dak and think he's got a bright and productive future in this league, but Staubach and Aikman are HOF quarterbacks. Let's not shoot our wad here.
Good luck being better than Staubach or Aikman.

Saying that Dak will break the passing records of past QBs is not the same as saying that he will be a better QB.

The modern NFL has become a passing league.

Romo has already broken both the single season and career records for passing yards of both Staubach and Aikman.

Aikman didn't rake up big passing stats because he didn't need to do it. His stats were about 1/2 of Marino's stats for those years in the early nineties.

Dak has already passed both Aikman and Staubach in terms of single season passing yards.

In 2019 Dak was 2 yards short of breaking Romo's record for single season passing yards by a Cowboys QB.

Best Single Season Passing Yards
Dak 4902
P.Manning 5477

Career Average Passing Yards per Season
Dak 3945
P.Manning 3996

Career Average Passing Yards per Game
Dak 247
P.Mannng 270
