5,477 is Manning's record for a single season. Dak is not getting that this year. Sorry.

I don't think so either, but he would only have to throw about 5 times more a game this year than last year, with the same ypc, to get the record. If Zeke gets hurt and Dallas goes to a high volume passing attack, and all the receivers stay healthy, it's not out of the realm of possibility. Not likely, though..

Championships are for winners, stats are for losers. You wanna be like Manning, Aikman or Staubach, win a Super Bowl first.

Saying that Dak will break the passing records of past QBs is not the same as saying that he will be a better QB.

The modern NFL has become a passing league.

Romo has already broken both the single season and career records for passing yards of both Staubach and Aikman.

Aikman didn't rake up big passing stats because he didn't need to do it. His stats were about 1/2 of Marino's stats for those years in the early nineties.

Dak has already passed both Aikman and Staubach in terms of single season passing yards.

In 2019 Dak was 2 yards short of breaking Romo's record for single season passing yards by a Cowboys QB.

Best Single Season Passing Yards
Dak 4902
P.Manning 5477

Career Average Passing Yards per Season
Dak 3945
P.Manning 3996

Career Average Passing Yards per Game
Dak 247
P.Mannng 270
Where do you think Dak would've been last season with half the drops?

First thing Dak gotta do is sign a contract.

Well, no, he can sign the franchise tender, which is technically a contract I guess, if that's what you mean. But he doesn't have to sign a long term deal or a one year regular contract...

I've been watching the high & outside and low in the dirt passes for 4 years. Dak is no Romo and isn't even a shadow of Aikman. Dak has had
weapons and still loses the big games against big teams. Nope, Dak has been measured, he has been weighed and he has been found
wanting.

Never bothered to check before but the franchise tag is considered a one year contract, so you are correct, sir.

But there's no chance he sits out this year, imo so it's sort of a moot point..

Having 5,000 yards passing and winning the SB is probably like having the leading rusher during the season and winning the SB, took a long time but it eventually happened. Same for being in the playoffs as a wild card and winning the SB, though that didn't take as long.

Really I doubt teams go into a season planning to set passing or other records, it just happens...

The Cowboys have had two QBs pass for almost 5000 yards and the team missed the playoffs both seasons with 8-8 records. Dak’s single game career high in passing is 463 yards against the Packers last season and we lost that game. He put up 397 yards against the Vikings and we lost. We’ve had our best, most efficient games when our running game is consistent and Dak’s passing yards are around 240 to 280 yards. An effective, consistent running game keeps our defense off the field.

Troy Aikman won three Super Bowls and defeated several other HOF QBs in post season by managing games and leaning on the running game. He was defeating QBs that had bigger passing numbers than him. All our championship teams in the 70s and 90s featured a great running game. Granted the game has changed and it’s a passing league but if you live with the pass you’ll eventually die by it and that’s been proven. You can’t just air it out all day and be successful.

I think Dak has a shot at breaking a lot of passing records. Dak will be the BEST QB in Cowboys history...

I couldn't care less about "records." I love Romo but all his franchise records didn't win him any rings or a divisional round playoff win for that matter. I love Dak as well and I have his game-day jersey so I'm rooting for him to succeed. But during this era with all the rules protecting the QB, I would rather have that HOF bus driver that didn't have to set records to be successful. Since I'm a team player I'm hoping your "Dak will be the BEST QB in Cowboys history" prediction comes true because like Romo, I think he's a good person and I root for those players. GO COWBOYS! :star:

With his weapons and with a competent coach, I think Dak has a shot at breaking a lot of passing records. I hope they go to a ball control offense, but I think MM is gonna air it out and Dak will be the BEST QB in Cowboys history...

He needs to win three Super Bowls before he even thinks about being the best Dallas QB ever. In Dak’s case, the stats don’t translate to wins as evidenced by last season. Since 2016 , Dak’s stats have improved every year and the team’s wins have declined year after year.
