Obviously they're not required to disclose, but I wish we knew exactly what's been offered, what's being requested, and what's been rejected.

So much conjecture, so much spin, and so much meaningless noise.

it is kind of normal though...look up the past quarterback who have been franchised tagged. probably 75% or even higher signed new contracts in july. like kirk cousins is the only one who did not and i think one or two others.

It’s pretty clear what is going on here but everyone seems confused.

The team has put their best offer forward. I don’t think they will be changing their offer. Why? Because they have all the leverage. They can tag Dak again next season, and all Dak can do is hold out and lose money.

Dak and his agent have determined that playing on the tag this season is better than accepting the current long term offer from the team. That way they can hope for a better offer next season from the Cowboys or another team.

All signs point to Dak playing out the season on the $30 million, 1 year deal. Then this will all start again next offseason.

You mean if he doesn't want to play the way you want him to play he should walk away?

No just sayin' somethings not right. Maybe he doesn't want to play in Dallas. Fans hate him. Media hates him just as much. Just walk away do what gives him peace of mind.

The team is totally fine with Dak playing on a one year deal. There is no downside to that. They can tag him again next season.

They really can't/shouldn't tag him again next year. His cap hit would supersede any contract they would give him. This year they can get away with it because the cap hit would be lower under the tag than if they signed him.

If Dak plays on the one-year deal, he's going to need to be spectacular and take this team to the Super Bowl, especially with another weapon in the offense's arsenal.

He simply cannot be a bus driver and fall short. Play like a bus driver and fall short and McCarthy and the Joneses will see that he's not capable of driving a Ferrari full throttle. Then they'll think that Dalton will be a better alternative or maybe look for a better quarterback in the draft.

As far as I'm concerned, if he goes into this year not having signed a contract, this is the scenario he's looking at.

P.S. I agree with Marcus Spears.

Well, they say nice things about Dak to the media and then disrespect our so-called Franchise QB to the hill as everyone including the waterboy will be signed before Dak it seems.....
This forum is a microcosm of the general fan base, so its been proven here in this forum to be about a 50/50 split.
That's not the best odds for Dak if he is betting on himself, especially considering that the has never elevated that support from his performance.
Blind stats, are not an accurate measurement.
Those that believe Dak is a franchise QB rely solely on fat stats, they will never recognize what really wins crucial games.
A great QB can put up horrible stats but give you that play that wins the game, that's what stats don't show.
Stats only reflect numbers, and those are given up when your down by 20 and there is only 9 minutes left in the 4th quarter.
Those that spew stats to support their agenda, really have no clue about what gets a team to a SB, or if they did at one point in time, they have forgotten it.

Well I don't think its a big group that hate him. Probably the same amount that hates Zeke or who hated Dez. Its just what it is. If he keeps this up after July 15th then I think its evident he doesn't want to be here IMO.

Yep.

Seems they have their priorities lined up.

For sure.

I sort of get a laugh out of people who say Dallas wants him. Sure they do. But like the sports car on the lot..

You can buy it but your kid ain't going to college if you do.

Dallas obviously feels if you pay Dak what he wants, they can not sustain a SB team.

Right or wrong..Dallas does not want to prove themselves wrong. Or right, depending how you look at it.

He plays the Tag we shall see and Dallas gets to see..we all do. If they withdraw the Tag which it has been said will not happen, fine.

But carefully said without saying it, that 2nd Tag maybe impossible to come by.

That is not true. I don't think anyone here believes Dak is a great quarterback but I think a lot of think he can become one.

People post stats to make those who discredit him look like fools. Its not to trying convince anyone he can be a franchise qb.
