This thread is a re-up of @Reality OP Pre-Draft.

https://cowboyszone.com/threads/its...s-biggest-improvement-was-his-command.452328/

With all the contract shenanigans I haven't really taken a step back to see what the Cowboys expect to get whether Dak plays on Tag or 4/5yr Contract.

Here is Kellen:

“I think he had really a good command, a lot of confidence to him. He was running the show – run game, gpass game, involved in all aspects of the offense. Certainly that’s something we can build on” – Kellen Moore told DallasCowboys.com

https://insidethestar.com/kellen-moore-dak-prescotts-biggest-improvement-was-his-command/

So post Draft, we all know McCarthy spoke to Kellen after the Lamb pick .(Dak Haters surmise..."Get Dalton")smh :)

I expect to see Dak's command grow similar to Romo. I'd argue Romo's command was evident as he forced defenses to show their hand effectively either by clock drain or player shifts... Garrett was vanilla...Romo added the sprinkles. Imagine if Romo had an innovative McVey or Shanahan.

I just don’t get it, the guy hasn’t signed yet. What else is there to talk about?

Transferring the talking point back to Kellen, the offense last year was explosive but in crunch time inconsistent. Sprinkle the blame all over the place but everyone gets a part in it. I feel with McCarthy as the head coach, we’ll see a better managed game.

KMoore.....the new offensive guru. Maybe that's part of the problem, as opposed to a solution.

Did McCarthy want to keep Moore or was this a condition of Jones's?

If it was a condition of Jones's, wouldn't that imply a replacement breathing on McCarthys shoulder? In fact would it be a blatant sign of what Jones plans to do in the future? Wouldn't it set up the perception of McCarthy as a one contract HC?

I really don't know if that is the case, has anybody seen any articles about Moore staying on?

If it means anything McCarthy is on record well before the Cowboys hiring praising Kellen Moore. He also talked about Moore as one of the people who’s creativity he liked/studied during year off to Peter King. Not to mention Moore’s high regard as a bright young offensive mind across the league.

This, for me at least, is more than enough evidence to suggest that McCarthy was genuinely interested in keeping Moore on board. Jerry obviously was more than happy that there was some previous affinity there, might have played into the hiring.

The big question is when Dak takes a step back this year in stats do yall still blame Garrett? Vanilla or not Garrett helped build a power offense. He just failed to do that on St or defense at the same time.

Its funny to me when the coaches and front office praise Dak only on stuff like leadership, command, and other intangibles but not things like accuracy or mechanics :laugh::laugh:

Intangibles are what you need insight on. The rest is bore out by statistics that a more readily available

No. That would be foolish. As is a loaded question.

I have to believe it was Jerry's call. We have been hearing about what a football genius KM is throughout his rocket up the ladder...apparently just for being a "football genius". The last "football genius" we had crippled the team for a decade.

If Dak were to regress this year it would be on him. I don’t think that he will, not with these weapons on offense and this coaching staff.

You see other franchise players signing their contracts now. Cousins always signed his early. You don’t gain any leverage with the team by waiting, but you do lose out on valuable time with the team and new receivers (maybe this year, not so much).

The tell-tale sign as to whether he will have a good season is if, when a deal doesn’t get done by July 15, he signs and comes into camp or chooses to stay out.

Remember, there’s nothing to be gained by refusing to sign after July 15 since a long term deal can’t be done after that date. But there’s a lot of downside. If he decides to wait until a few days before opening day to sign, it’s going to be difficult for him to pick up a new offense and get chemistry with Lamb.

In a way he did. But I thank those like McCray and even the Jones's who consistently trained him to become a better coach. Unfortunately, during his tenure in Dallas, Garrett hasn't learned a damn thing. His stubbornness and his unwillingness to adapt is his downfall. Just so that he can show off his proud Princeton diploma. He made the Cowboys worst than what it was. Although we were very talented offensively.

Most likely Dak is commanding Kellen's and Jerry's ash.

It's funny how Dak Haters conveniently have amnesia or selective hearing when it comes to Dak.....

Maybe I'll start with the GREATEST Football coach ever.... 16 sec mark wait for it!!! After that let Bill Belichick words kill you softly....

McCarthy's experience should make up for the lack in Moore. I like the combo.
I'm good with that.....but does that make MM the defacto OC?....thus KMoore gets the good but immunity during the bad.
