He had 3 previous starts that year where he filled in capably.

You not remembering that doesn't mean it isn't true. It just means you don't pay attention.
Wasn't that at LG though? Can't remember but was thinking it was his first start at LT

In 17 it was. He had two quality starts at LT in 16. We won both of those games - don't have data on Green but the team gave up a total of two sacks in those two games. Even if both were on Green, that's still a good performance for a backup over that stretch.

Not that I agree with getting your QB abused, but wasn't a large part of that due to Zeke getting suspended?

Losing Tyron was a bigger deal than Zeke's suspension.

Zeke missed games 9-14.
Tyron missed 9,10, made 11-14. We lost 9,10, went 3-1 with Tyron but w/o Zeke.
Week 15, Tyron goes out after 3 snaps, and Zeke has his first game back. We lose to Seattle.

But Dak really was just playing much worse. Even playing, Zeke wasn't having much of a season. 4.1ypc for the year.

That is the day I lost all confidence in Jason Garrett. Complete incompetence and a complete inability to make in-game adjustments.

Garrett should have been fired before the plane landed in Dallas.

Instead....what do we do? We give him 2.5 more years!!!
I was yelling at the TV for 3 quarters to help Green. Dak was getting killed on almost every pass play by Clayborn. This was the worst coaching I have ever seen. I actually would have fired Garrett right after the game. Dak was effected by this game for the rest of the season.

At the time I couldn't fathom what happened. Maybe it was arrogance that Chaz Green can play. But looking back...just another prime example of incompetent coaching. And some fans will tell you blaming Garrett is a cop out but that game was arguably the biggest stain on his career. He sat there time and time again watching Dak get killed by this guy. Completely buried Chaz Green and almost did the same to Dak. Chaz Green was a young player at the time and Dak was in his second year. Should've protected him more that game.

that game alone helped magnify the leading collapse about Garrett and his crew - the ever continuous failure to make adjustments.

they simply believe in lining up for a game and beating you on the other side,. anything else was apparently too overwhelming or clueless for them.
i really believe management wanted to force themselves to believe that Garrett was going to be one of the very best, talked about HCs in the game.
As if he is one of the most innovative young minds in the game. " we do what we do "
One of the most simplistic minds as a HC that i've seen coached.

as with ATL this game, Garrett was freed up from the Xs' and O's play calling duties to better manage and overseer the games so he could have an
immediate impact as far as adjustments, but he was so simple and set in his ways of just executing we do what we do across the line, that he simply
did not have it within himself to properly make adjustments - we were probably the worst in the NFL at that area. ..adjustments.

And opposing teams knew they could counter or scheme against us accordingly so. Neither the OL coach nor the HC had a clue of how
to make adjustments.

I don't get it???
Why would someone post something like this?
Blame Garrett, not Dak is that it?
We'll bud Garrett is gone and you and Dak have run out of coaches to burn.
Like the Glenn Fry song says.......THE HEAT IS ON.....LA LA LA LA ....and this time I got a 9 year NFL starting QB on the bench....LA LA LA LA

1:20 RB shaded to Green's side
1:30 rolled the pocket right away from Green
2:45 Witten stayed in to help Green
4:12 RB to Green's side

i stopped after that. i just want to point out -again- that Green was given a ton of help that day. People that claim elsewise are ignorant.
Green was given a ton of help? WHAT!!!

Your wrong!!! and I mean WAY wrong!!!!! There MIGHT have been 3-4 plays where Green got some help, but the overwhelming majority of time Green was on his own.
How the heck do you think Clayborn had 6 sacks and probably 7-10 hurries?

Why do you think Dak was shell shocked the rest of the season?

Chaz Green happened

Chaz was terrible. Everyone knew that. He can't change his talent in the middle of the game. But what could have changed was how the coaches adjusted and got him help or benched him completely. Anything. But they did absolutely nothing. Nada.

The entire 2015 season and the 6 games Zeke was out in 2017 was the biggest indictment on this staff. They showed they had no way to adjust and ran the same gameplan out there and if it didn't work, they had no idea how to adjust. At all. Yet every other team figures out how to adjust to us mid game.

After 2 sacks, it was clear Chaz could not handle this guy one on one. And we left him on an island and sacked 4 more times. Dak dang near got killed out there. This was the first game without Zeke (I think). And that season went down the tubes after that. We were one of the hotter teams after beating KC the week before and were rolling.

One of the worst coaching performances I have seen in a while.

but there were a lot to choose from under JG...

any pop warner coach would’ve rolled a TE, H-back back, or use the RB to help out.
Likely anyone with a brain stem....
It’s like being in the ocean and refusing to plug the hole in your boat while water gushes in...

My question is...who helps JG put his pants on...?

And in game 11, Martin went out early with a concussion.

I don’t even remember man what did he pull that next game?

Super conservative, protect that side of Dak at all cost offense. I think he kept a TE there the entire game. Its foggy for me as well, but I remember being almost as pissed.

Just as bad, this team had Byron Bell as their other option there. Byron Bell, who the Panthers punted away after a miserable season trying to play left tackle for them. A guy who was actually a capable player in any other position, whose reports tell you, he's capable anywhere expect left tackle. But what do Garrett and our Cowboys do? Nope! They play him at left tackle.

Ultimately, Offensive line coach Frank Pollack paid the price for these mistakes, while Garrett once again pranced away unscathed. But oh, hired the far worse Paul Alexander to replace him, because Brother John 'knew him' from Cincinnati.

But the cheerleaders will still try to tell you that Garrett 'wasn't incompetent'. All evidence to the contrary.
