Aaron got paid a few years previous to that Super Bowl. It didn’t prevent them from going and winning. They have made deep playoff runs since, including after ANOTHER huge payday.
Edit: I looked and saw his contract before his win wasn’t as large as we are used to seeing now. 12 years is a long time ago in the football world. He was the fifth highest paid QB after receiving that contract though.
Ok I did not think they ever made it back to SB.
I remember they had a vg defense when they won SB and after that they lost 2 defensive stars, probably could not pay them.
And that is the thing, paying a qb has a trickle effect, and it causes the team to lose players not all at once but year after year.
Rodgers is a lot better than dak and he could never get the team back, because they paid him and invested mostly in offense, sound familiar?
They never had that good defense again.
GB came close several times but bottom line is they could not get back to a SB even though they had the best qb in nfl at the time.
