t didn’t take long for the Cowboys to retool, though, as they added veterans Gerald McCoy, Dontari Poe, and Ha Ha Clinton-Dix in free agency. During the NFL Draft, Trevon Diggs and Reggie Robinson were selected to bolster the cornerback position. However, Neville Gallimore and Bradlee Anae are both underrated steals who have a great shot at contributing early to the Cowboys front seven.

Gallimore enters the NFL coming off of his best collegiate season in terms of tackles for loss (6.5), sacks (4), and quarterback pressures (32). He’s incredibly fast for 300-pound man as evidence by his 4.79 in the 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine On top of that, he forced five fumbles during his days at Oklahoma, and with new Defensive Coordinator Mike Nolan set to focus turnovers, he fits right in.

What’s most intriguing about Gallimore is his ability to play both the 1-technique and 3-technique. This will lessen the load on McCoy and Poe and keep them fresh while simultaneously providing Gallimore with the much-needed reps he’ll require to be effective. The Cowboys defense was gashed in the run game last season. Gallimore’s ability to disrupt will not allow offensive linemen to reach the second level and put a hat on the Cowboys linebackers.

Gallimore as a 1T would be a huge waste of his talent.

Conceviably they could do that in passrush situations, but no way he should ever be eating blockers.

Not sure I agree. If he is our second-best 1-tech, then I don't have a problem using him in that role some. Depending on what he shows, I'd rather have a rotation of Poe, McCoy and Gallimore at those inside positions then stick someone like Hill out there if he playing like he did last year.

I think the point will be moot, though, as I can't see Gallimore being as good at the 1-tech spot as Antwuan Woods, at least not right now.

Yea, that's fair and I agree. But that was part of the problem with Maliek Collins. It's poor to draft a guy for a specific role, and then play him in a very different one. That's not setting anybody up to succeed.

I still think they upgrade the 1-tech and most likely draft the future at the position next year. Gallimore and Hill are both 3-techs do the only true 1-techs on the roster is Poe and Woods plus the undrafted guys.

We could look to free agents that are still on the market we could bring in. For example, a guy like Snacks Harrison is still out there and while he isn't a huge threat as a pass rusher......I like him for run stopping and clogging up holes. In pass rush situations, Dallas could use a Gallimore or Hill (depending if he takes a step forward with the new coaching).

I think it's very possible that Hill is no longer on the team come week 1. He will have to fight for his job and will not be given a spot.

The one individual that will "impact this defense", is Nolan. Without good coaching, having decent players doesn't matter.
Exactly. The coaching staff put together looks great on paper. Tomsula w aldon smith could do wonders as well. But overall Nolan has chance to change this defense for the better

I'm really looking forward to seeing these two, but truth be told I am eager to see what this entire draft class has to offer. From top to bottom one word keeps coming to mind, "Impact" how much, of course that remains to be seen but I am excited:flagwave:

4.79...40..@300lbs, I sure hope they put him at 3Tech, and he plays so naturally there they don't move him. Neville Gallimore is a guy I think can help swing this draft into a truly good draft by giving Dallas a disruptive interior DT.

The part about Bradlee Anae was interesting. If they play him at SAM/DPR, what would that depth chart look like?

Adding two young pressure players is what this defense needs for sure.

It’s hard to understand how we got Lamb and still was able to addresss the defense with guys who actually have a shot at making the team.

I certainly hope Bradlee can be an Anae-hilator for us (get it? get it? see what I did there? do you? do you? huh?) but my eye test gut says he will struggle.

He’s a guy who really took advantage of the Sr Bowl
He was unstoppable all week there
Yea. He's a hard one to evaluate. He's a really good example of having all the tools but not having much production. That's particularly concerning for someone of his age, and why I wanted no part of him in the first two rounds.

Gallimore turns 24 in January, Trysten Hill just turned 22 at the end of March.

What's funny watching a replay of the draft is when the Dolphins went on the clock with the 18th pick right after CeeDee became a Cowboy they selected OT Austin Jackson from USC. Then when breaking him down it's mentioned how he struggled against Brad(Bruce)Lee Anae.

Our 5th rounders dominate their 1st rounders.
