Dalton is better from accuracy to pocket presence to leading the WR and can throw all types of passes, unlike Dak.
Let's stay with Dak hmmm from 13-3 to 9-7 then 10-6 to 8-8 with one of the best rosters in the NFL on offense.
I know post your Garrett excuse now(Used to be the Linehan excuse) and sell crazy as the only buyers you have are your fellow Dak-Trolls!
Interesting post, especially the w/l records over the years. Last year was the most troubling for me, especially given the talent on offense. His mechanics improved, but didn't reflect in the w/l column. Troubling.

Actually... You've never seen me blame Linehan or Garrett. Although neither were world beaters. As far as Dalton, I might agree that he is better with pocket awareness. I think Dak needs to continue to improve on that. Too many times, he could just step up in the pocket and buy some time. Instead, he starts trying to scramble around. As far as throwing all the passes, I would agree with you if the Cowboys were getting the Dalton from years ago. The last couple years, Dalton just hasn't been that good. The record over the last 4 years belongs to the team... Not one player. But I understand why anti-Dak people put it solely on Dak. It's one of the few things they have which can't be debunked with facts. As far as selling crazy... Someone sells it on an hourly basis. I'll let you decide who does that.

He can either sign the tag or sit out. I think JJ & Co. are fine letting him play on the tag. I don’t think either side will cave to each other’s demands.

Reevaluate next offseason.

Just curious, for the “Don’t pay Dak” crowd what’s your solution for QB. This year and for the immediate short term. Play Dak on tag? Dalton? Trade? If so who?
Well, they should have tagged Dak with the non-exclusive tag and signed Case Keenum.
And they could still get Keenum for less than Dak is asking and he would be far better.
That was an easy and obvious decision.
Kellen Moore could come out of coaching and still outplay Dak
Marcus Mariota would have been better.
Josh Rosen, maybe.
Or Colt McCoy.
We know Dak isn't the answer.

there is no guarantee you can even get to Daks level of play even if you draft a QB in the top 10.Thankfully the FO is not stupid.

My macro view would have been a similar copy cat approach to Carolina's.
I would have went hard for Urb as coach, lured the OC Brady from LSU and mortgaged the future for TUA.

As a contingency plan I would have attempted Brady in free agency.

As it stands now, whether a contract is signed or not, it will be extremely interesting to see how much actual control this HC has if Dak were to be out performed in whatever kind of abbreviated offseason there is. If there is one.

Since Dak is not known as the best practice player and referred to as a gamer, it will be very interesting.

I heard somewhere it is a meritocracy though, so hopefully he earns it. If not, he should not start or be paid franchise money.

My .02.

We have Dalton. Not elite, but he's in the same broad category as Dak, and is a little better suited than Dak to a timing based offense.

We're drafting a QB in the first round in 2021.

I'd sign another vet QB with starting experience for depth and to give an option other than Dalton. Alternatively, I'd be very tempted to throw a mid round pick to the Dolphins for Rosen. Low risk move.

The recession means the cap will likely drop over the next couple of years. I'd use the 30m saved on Dak to accelerate 2021 and 2022 cap liabilities into 2020 so Dallas will be ahead of the curve and one of the few (possibly the only) team with spare money in those years.

2021/2022 first round QB's what do you'll think their contracts will be worth?

This would be 1 and 2 years post Mahommes deal. 30m, 35m, 40m?

Dak's level of play.....really now????:muttley:
He shines against DOG TEAMS and you have the audacity to post about his level of play???
Finding a QB better than Dak (Very low talent level) is easy we just did exactly that when we signed Dalton.
Dak Prescott will go down as one of the biggest QB frauds that ever played the game.
Now, pray the Skins and Giants don't improve, or else we just might win 4-5 games next season if Dak starts throughout the season!

What does any team do when they need to find another franchise QB? Whatever that is, that’s the plan. I’m not necessarily in the don’t pay Dak camp. I might say I’m in the don’t pay Dak much more than Goff and Wentz camp. There’s no way to justify going below those two but there also really is no way to justify him wanting more than them. I get the four year thing and am fine with it. If he plays hardball for outrageous money, then The Double D’s it is for this year and begin the search for the next franchise QB next off season. What other plan can there be?

That's the don't pay Dak camp. He's already said no to that money, both last year and this.

Why it’s Trevor Lawrence of course. Him
or anyone else.

The Dak haters are delusional. Finding a good QB is very, very difficult.

Well if the Dak lovers are correct then Dallas gets 2 first for Dak.

Easy decision if that is correct!

Then I can easily trade up for Lawrence!

I say Prescott plays on the tag this year, and everything gets kicked to next year. The incessant Prescott threads continue to haunt us for another year. God save us, please.

Agreed. I thought once the first 3 games had passed, even his mechanics defaulted to factory settings.
Just my opinion though.
