Here is a thought, how many people were talking poorly of Dak in 2016 ?????
How many " haters" were posting here?? ( haters = anyone who wants another qb or thinks dak isnt good enough,
or thinks he is good but not worth the money he is demanding.)
None I would guess, this all took the last 3 years to develop and then add in the whole longest contract debate ever, and dak wanting
to be top salary at point of signing, and yeah we have some people that are saying dont sign him.

It is NOT like people have been against dak since day 1.
Same thing for elliot back in 16, but this is years later and both have been meh for last 3 years.
They have good stats, but that has not translated to much season wise or in playoffs the last 3 years.

There are valid reasons for people to think dak is not the right guy, especially now that his pay will
go up what 35 times what he was making?

Again my point is this didnt happen overnight, and didnt really start until late into 2017.
Some slid back in 2018, but then after a 8-8 season and the last phil game , the whole
not liking dak started up in earnest, and then this contract thing has made it snowball.

Fans is short for fanatics. No one ever said fanatics made intelligent decisions.

Fans tend to be lazy and stupid, so everything boils down to the head coach and the QB. The head coach is gone, so all that is left is the QB.

It is funny watching these "fans" pretend to have a rational basis for their reactions. It's one of the reasons I come here. :muttley:

There was negative talk about him in 2016 during the Cowboys franchise record 11 game winning streak. A poll was started during the streak with most fans wanting to go back to Romo despite the fact we were on a roll with Dak. Fans complained all he did was dink and dunk. They complained about his low numbers. From day one most fans weren’t sold on him and it hasn’t changed.

Every starting Cowboys QB has a "honeymoon" period with the fans when they like him and haven't started the criticism yet. Romo was highly popular with fans in 2006, his first season starting (until the Seattle dropped snap) and even despite that Seattle game, remained highly popular through the red-hot 2007 season until the Giants playoff loss.

Dak's shine took a while to come off, but came off it did, like it would for any Dallas QB.

Remember how Aikman was loudly booed by fans at Texas Stadium in 2000, his last season? And that was a guy who'd won three Super Bowls.

Every starting QB has a Honeymoon period?

You can definitely add extra honey to that moon with Dak's rookie season when he:

1. Set the NFL record for most pass attempts before his first INT

2. Led the team to a 13-3 season.

3. Seemingly came out of nowhere as the 3rd team QB and a 4th round rookie draft pick

4. Set the all time NFL rookie record for passer rating, completion percentage and interception percentage.

5. Was selected as the 2016 Rookie of the Year

6. Had five 4th quarter come from behind victories and 5 game winning drives

7. In his first ever playoff start he went toe to to with Aaron Rodgers. He passed for over 300 yards with 3 TD's, a passer rating of 103.2, overcoming an 18 point deficit to pull within a tie with 35 seconds left in the game.

Dak wasn't just the new young guy. Dak wasn't a player that gave us hope for the future. There was no honeymoon, he got thrown right out there and treated like a 10 year veteran in terms of expectation. Any other quarterback would have failed miserably. Dak broke the records previously set by QBs drafted #1 overall.

You cannot find a rookie QB performance like that if you looked back at 100 years of football.

Dak lost his shine?

Last season he was one single yard short of Tony Romo's record for most passing yards in a season. Tony Romo was 32. Dak is 26.

Last season he was 4th place for most TD's in a season. All three places above him are Tony when he was in his 30's.

Dak Prescotts shine can't be coming off because he's just starting the polish,

Dak isn’t Mahomes. He isn’t Russell Wilson. He is better than a lot of other QBs though. People need get over the fact that he isn’t perfect.

That said the contract negotiations are causing his supporters to question signing him long term. I have been a big Dak guy since the beginning. I don’t know what to believe on the contract but it is getting ridiculous.

There were plenty of Dak haters in 2016 on the official DC.com message board. Every single one of them were hardcore Romo fans. The hate started after Romo haters fell in love with Dak following his preseason debut against the Rams when Romo haters said Dak should be the starter. It only got worse as Dak continued to play well and Romo got hurt: There was also a clear trend of goalposts being moved as Dak continued to exceed expectations throughout the year which included the following:

It’s only preseason
Vanilla game plans
Wait for regular season
Wait until teams have tape on him
Wait until teams game plan for him
Wait until he plays a good defense
Wait until he plays in cold weather
Wait until the playoffs

They also latched onto the thought he couldn’t throw deep and gave him the label of “Dak and Dunk” despite the fact he threw deep about 1% less than Romo did.

These Romo fans enjoyed 2015 much more than 2016. My mind was blown because I was also a hard core Romo fan and the posters I was closest with became the people I argued with the most. I just couldn’t believe how they went from defending everything related to Romo and changed to criticizing everything about Dak. They did it out of spite and payback for how Romo was treated. It continues to this day. These posters just don’t have the balls to admit it.

Then we had Pappy emerge as a poster and every week he guaranteed would be Dak’s last week as a starter. He continues to do nothing but bash Dak on this site.

To be honest the 2018 season along with a few games in 2019 has me iffy about Dak. But he can win and if special teams was better we probably made the playoffs.

In 2016, the Cowboys offensive line was much less injured that it is today.

No one 'hates' him now. What most dislike is the outright greed without earning it.

Sure, Dak had a great season in 2016, but lets not forget why the season went well. Romo was supposed to be the starter with Dak as the 3rd backup. The rest of the NFL had plenty of film on Romo, but nothing on #3, who unexpectedly got tossed into the mix when #1 and #2 went down. If you remember, Dak started going downhill later in the season as the film on him expanded and the rest of the NFL started catching on to his tendencies.

Dak is not a bad QB, but he hasn't come anywhere close to earning top tier money like Mahomes. If it makes some people trolls or haters for feeling that way then so be it.

You are absolutely wrong as there were a significant amount of posters that was hating on Dak in 2016 for whatever their reason were.

Dak friendly was a disaster from day one. Garrett cut they playbook in half, making the offense even more predictable. How can a very predictable offense be QB friendly?

So with better coaching we should see that 2016 Dak again. This will be Dak's no excuses season, IMO. If Dallas struggles to rack up wins, Dak doesn't have Garrett or the play calling to help shoulder some of the blame from fans.
