But Others propaganda is much better
We have some fans that take this opinion driven forum much too serious.

Look how ridiculous the analysis and opinion driven media on TV known personalities fans often follow is mostly entertainment. But yet we want to hold some fans on an anonymous forum more accountable. Lol

When I say “ reporting “ I’m referring to my view of the events. Ultimately we must all remember this is an opinion driven format.

Your obviously taking opinion as it’s factual regardless how much they believe it to be true.

Then say it's your view or opinion and not that you're reporting and then this won't happen. Maybe all these sportswriters who are reporters should just say this is just their opinion and that they aren't really reporting anything because saying that your reporting something really doesn't mean that you're a reporter at least according to you.

Unless the team and Dak lay an egg this year, I think we can now assume the floor for Dak is two franchise tags, a-la Cousins. That would be two years at about 68.5...or less slightly less than what they are already offering per year.
But yes, a longer deal spreads it out some.

We could go with back-to-back tags, but I'd be surprised. I trust McCarthy when it comes to quarterbacks, so I believe he'll know after this season if Dallas should back up the Brinks truck or pull the carpet out from under Dak. I think the only way we go with a second tag is if McCarthy believes Dak is worth big money but he's demanding more than the Joneses are willing to pay, even for a franchise QB.

I don’t know why people think Dalton pressured press got into signing. I agree Prescott wasn’t worried about him in any way shape or form. We need an upgrade from Cooper Rush that’s all it was. I actually like the rookie hope he beats him out and camp. But Dalton is smart I will give him that. He’ll be good for Prescott

I don't understand it either. Dak signed the franchise tag more than a month after the Cowboy signed Dalton. If Dalton was as amazing as some people claim, why didn't the Cowboys rescind the tag as soon as they signed Dalton? If Dak was so worried about Dalton taking his job, why did it take more than a month after Dalton signed for him to sign the tag?

Everything here is opinion unless otherwise supported by links , proven stats or factual data.

Surely you realize this. Otherwise every post would need to begin with ..IMO. Lol

Jerry wants to get a deal done. And while he’s all in on Dak he wants to present a perception of playing hardball but in the end he’s willing to overpay him.

And he’s played it right in the public eye. It’s making Dak out to be the bad guy.

Based on history the more likely scenario is we will extend his contract before July 15th deadline.

The small sample size on not extending contracts after Tagging supports signing before the deadline.

Ultimately this places more pressure on getting a deal done now not after the deadline.
With Jerry, I just don't expect to know what he's thinking.

Do you think Jerry played out the Garrett decision to the bitter end for public attention ?

He may have imo. Maybe I'm off base a bit, but I do think he may have. Though, I think he also wanted to see if we'd make the playoffs as well. I just think the team looked down and out toward the end of the season. I was at the Cowboys and Bears game. The team looked completely out of it. If I could see that, then I think Jerry could. But, as we had a chance even then at the playoffs and the fact that Garrett's contract was to expire after the season, he had no need to do anything. I think the team would've had to spark up and do a deep playoff run for Garrett to still be here.

Going to be interesting either way.

No QB in NFL history has ever played on a franchise tag and then signed with that same team long term.

But with both the coaching change and the weirdness that Covid-19 presents, this could be be the exception.

Then again, he very well might still sign long term < July 15.

You just don't get it that saying you're reporting anything is saying you're a reporter. A lot of people don't say it's their opinion nor do other say they are reporting but then only you say you're reporting. All you're doing is keep blaming me for your choice in words.

If he plays well this year, it don’t matter, you’ll need to pay him. Biggest question is he that guy? If he doesn’t, we can move on.

Do you think Jerry played out the Garrett decision to the bitter end for public attention ?

No, Jerry's mind had to process both Jason's family ties to the organization combined with his own infamous hand selection as OC before selecting HC Wade laid the groundwork for what would be that long tenured relationship. All the embarrassing interviews by Jerry and the coach in training and equally disappointing coach speak by Jason when he would often say "Jerry makes those decisions." If Jason could have accepted a front office title position Jerry would have sent him upstairs in a heart beat. So in a small clash of egos I'm sure Garrett is hoping to prove his legitimacy with the Giants. The Maras/Tischs knew him when he was with the team before so the relationship there had been previously established.

Short answer to your question though is the Garrett to Jones family dynamic came into play and Jerry just wanted to save public opinion face that one of his adopted family projects didn't quite work out.

Remember the Jimmy and Jerry facade. A mutual agreement of 2 egos.

Well Garrett is tremendously more humble than Johnson by nature but he is still a man with a certain level.of pride who I'm sure will be out to prove his own meritocracy as a coach.

Apologies for butting in unannounced and doing my whole behavioral counseling diatribe on you as that is my background.

...Dak is going lights out this year. Hoping for the big dance appearance. If so, almost guaranteed the big contract soon follows.

You apparently struggle with anyone’s opinions you don’t agree with and or how they present it.

You’ve yet to offer any rebuttal of my reported opinions. Lol

For one year, and after he exposes himself further, we won't be stuck with him for many years.

I'm willing to bet of he stays on the tag, and we have no dedication to him, Dalton will start by week 7-8. That's how bad he will be.

#DontpayDak
Lol you’re willing to bet? What are the terms. I’ll take that bet.
