He HAS to have a cap % with a yearly min. In 10 years, 100M could be backup QB money, so I doubt they put any actual figures on the years toward the back. The guarantee and the structure will tell the real tale, so let's wait to see what the actual deal looks like. If the guarantee is less than 250M, we know it's not really a 10 year deal.

10 years with 180 million guaranteed is probably the most team friendly deal a QB has ever signed in this market.

Goff got 110 million for 4 years...by that logic, Mahomes should get at least 250.

That is exactly what I was thinking. Spread that out and it is only 18 million a year. That is real friendly for a qb like Mahomes.

I agree but unless the Cowboys are willing to offer a similar structure I don't think it changes anything for Dak's negotiations. And I don't think the anti-Dak crowd want Dak signing a ten-year extension.

I doubt it would change if the Cowboys offered exactly the same contract. CAA and Dak want a short deal because they want another bigtime payday and another high exposure negotiation victory. This, in turn, brings more clients and more business. 10 year, long term deals are boring. CAA doesn't want that IMO.

what it tells me is this.. Mahomes is committed to being a Chief for life. He know he's about sign something like that life changing not only for his immediate family for many more generations. He's not concerned about a few more million here or there cause he know that he will have more money than he will ever come close spending and that this contract will help the organization keep other players around him that will help the team be successful. He and his agent are smart enough to know that winning football can bring him more money outside what his salary pays him. wish dak and his agents would be smart enough to know this.

The rumor a few months ago was it would be a different contract structure that we haven't seen before. Percentage of the cap made sense then and even more so now. I don't think the Cowboys wouldn't even consider offering Dak a structure like that.
