Given the state of the country, the league as a whole and potential financial issues in the future w/ the cap going down....If I'm Dak, I take it and smile all the way to the bank.

If I'm Dallas, I hold firm - if he doesn't sign, you'll have a better idea next year about the future of the cap, you might have saved yourself a cap nightmare scenario.

Personally, I still think they will come to an agreement last minute tomorrow. There is SOOO much uncertainty about this next year and the following after it, I just don't see how he turns down that type of contract.

Why cant they just add a voidable year on the deal if the Cowboys make it to the NFC Title Game or something. Seems like this 4 yr vs 5 yr thing should not be a deal breaker, there are ways around that if you really want to make it work.

I have yet to hear of any sign from Dak's camp that they want to make it work.

What Mahomes got should not impact Dak’s contract at all.

Tannehill got paid $29.5 mm just earlier this year for what 6 good games and 395 yards in 3 playoff games...4 year contract.

Cousins got a new deal that pays him around $34 mm...less than a 4 year extension

Bridgewater, Rivers, Brady, Newton, Brees...all 4 year or less deals.

This is the same guy that got beat up in public, had pictures of his ding dong all over social media, had a party during a pandemic, partied on the monday night the week of a huge game at NY in 2016 and helped to almost screw up a coin toss decision right?

He would be a fool to walk away from 100 plus mil guaranteed and playing for the biggest name in American Sports for the majority if not rest of his career. Many perks come with being a long time or lifetime home grown Cowboy that your just not going to get being on teams like the Bills, Colts, or Jags as just a few examples.

Equal on a 5-year deal vs. their 4-year extensions? It better be above or you absolutely don't sign that deal if you're Dak. If the Cowboys want an extra year, they need to up the ante guarantee-wise. This is what no one is getting and are letting their anxiety do their posting.

Suppose we had the ability to see into the future. Thus, we could offer a contract worthy of that QB's performance over the length of that contract.

You would want to consider productivity, availability, number of starts, winning percentage, off field behavior, awards, and poise during critical plays. Since you could see in the future you would know all these stats, circumstances and events.

Now, looking at the contracts of all the quarterbacks that played from 2016 to 2020 and their average annual salaries, what would you have paid Dak for his performance in his first four seasons?

Who did he outperform? How many games did these other quarterback play in and start? Over that four year period, which of them had the best winning percentage, completion percentage, INT ratio, passing yards, TD's both passing and running? What were their salaries over that four year period?

Again, how much would you have offered on Dak's contract in 2016? Seriously, when you compare his results to all the other quarterbacks?

I'm not talking about a current contract, I'm asking what Dak's performance over his first four years is worth with respect to the salary structures of that period.

Once you've come up with a number, take that contract offer you propose and subtract 5 million dollars. What is the remainder, how much is left?

According to you, that's what Jerry Jones owes Dak.
