I almost never set foot in Houston (maybe a grand total of 3 times in twenty years)........how bad do they really hate the Cowboys? Does it compare anywhere near to Cowboys hate in Philadelphia, Washington DC or New York?

Safe, or have Dallas fans ever been in physical jeopardy in H-Town?

The last time I was in Houston I didn't really sense any Cowboys hate. It was 1973, but still.

I remember thinking the Astrodome was pretty cool.

Most Giants and Eagles fans don’t even hate the Cowboys as much as they do each other. I’m guessing because they’re in close proximity to each other and in the same division.

I was in the Meadlowlands last year for the MNF game (black cat game) and will agree with the Giants fans. Most of the fans I encountered are very working class people from New Jersey. One I met on the train into East Rutherford even bought me a beer and invited me to his lower level seats.

The Eagles though - that's real hate. I normally can endure plenty of trash talking, but those guys like to throw hands and I'm not getting locked up over a football game. You don't get the reputation as being the worst fans in sports without being the worst fans in sports.

I lived in Houston for 6 months in 2014. Half way between Houston and Katy actually.
Stayed in a hotel while on a contract Engineering assignment.

I did not get any hate from anyone there. There were a few places nearby, spent a lot of time at a Buffalo Wild Wings. Every one was pretty cool. Except you get the usual comments one gets anywhere. Mostly were about Romo. But no one hated Dallas.

Jonathon Joseph, that played for the Texans actually would come in and get orders to go there.
I had my season season tickets at the time, was not going to make it back for the game. And the bartender wanted to see the stadium. He had a place to stay at his Aunt's. So I sold them to him, for face value. So he and his girlfriend went. I could have made a profit if I sold them on Stub Hub.

This was the game that Tony Romo punked JJ Watt, and threw a TD to Twill.

People I worked with could care less I was a Cowboys fan.

I went to a Cowboys - Oilers game in the Astrodome on a MNF game back in the 80's. You would have thought the Cowboys were playing at home in Texas Stadium!! Way more Cowboys fans in attendance!! There are lots of Cowboys fans in the surrounding cities of Houston!!!!

I live with my cousin; we’re both semi-retired. He’s a Texans fan. Unless they’re playing heads-up, we always pull for both teams.

I go to Houston often and have never seen much in the way of Cowboys hate — even back in the Oilers days. Guessing it mostly comes from not playing in the same conference?

Please....IDK who yall talk to, but I have been in Houston since 1979. I am a lifelong Cowboys fan since the days of Chuck Howley, Mel Renfro, Bullet Bob, Calvin Hill Duane Thomas, Leroy Jordan, Bob Lilly, Roger the Dodger, Craig Morton and Cornell Green. At any rate, I have extremely close friends & family whom I have allowed to live in my house, borrow my car, loaned & given money...& who talk to me like a dog when it comes to the Dallas Cowboys versus their beloved Texans. I can't even begin to describe the hateration thrown my way for being a Boys fan in Houston. Not only them but all Texan fans whom I've met on the street turn their noses up 7 frown in disgust when they see a Cowboy logo or fan. They literally despise us all the while wanting to be us. They cannot stand our popularity even though we have not won a title in 25 years. They can't wrap their hands around why we are still called America's Team and lead the tv ratings year after year.

Listen to their talk radio shows...they will NEVER give the Boys any credit, they always highlight any bad press...so absolutely their is immense hatred in Houston when it comes to the Dallas Cowboys.

When we speak of 5 SB titles, they say that is old but they love to highlight what is known to them as "19-10" which is what most real Texan fans consider their biggest accomplishment...lol! By the way they have never won ANYTHING worth a trophy other than a divisional title.

I recently moved to Houston. There are a lot of cowboys fans here and I haven't seen the hate, even from Texans fans. I also lived in DC area and given the ex-Commanders (TBD), there was a lot of anti-cowboy fever there because of the rivalry, but surprisingly the cowboys had a large contingency and following in DC area.

they dont hate they are jealous and use the same narrative CZ does as in you cant count the old trophies since you havent won one in 30 years..however, the comeback is yes but your last team ran out and your new one came and both have never won even one..

they are very jealous and i dont know why theres hate i dont even see them as rival they are a step brother in a different conference. They dont matter to me one bit and io have a **** ton of friends from there ;)0 FB get hot during he season..

If you walk through downtown Houston with a Dallas Cowboy hat on you might just survive … barely ... without a scratch … or without anyone saying a word … or without even a glance your way - or …

Sure there are some people in Houston that aren't fond of the Cowboys, probably particularly older people who saw the Cowboys get so much love statewide and nationally back in the 1970's while the Oilers struggled, but it's not as if a Cowboy fan in Houston is akin to an American soldier in an Al-Quaeda encampment.

Unless maybe you are planning to run around Houston covered with Cowboy clothing and face paint and telling everyone face to face you think them, their team and their city suck …. you aren't planning to do that are you?

I have lived in Houston 51 years and the level of so called hate varies. In the 70's when Dallas was consistently a top team there was a lot of hate from Oiler fans, again in the early 90's with Cowboys success you had many Houston fans who would tell me how much they hated the Cowboys. In more recent times the success has not been there and not much is said. Having said that I catch hell all the time from friends on co workers who are Texan fans and do not like the Cowboys at all but it is also all in fun and good natured ribbing. I would also add there has always been a rivalry between the Cities of Houston and Dallas beyond sports

Hate and jealousy are 2 different things.
But jealousy can lead to hate.

In any case, this is a silly thread. Houston isn't an NFL war zone where a large number of people are going to beat the hell out of someone for being a Cowboy fan. Obviously there are always idiots in any city, but a Cowboy fan is unlikely to be bothered in Houston.
