Twitter: Dak’s 2021 tag impact on the Cowboys

Yeah, Dak isn't getting the full franchise tag next year.

The best solution is to put him on the transition tag. He is free to talk to any team and if he signs an offer, Dallas can match it. Poison pill language is illegal now. Dallas would be bidding against a bunch of teams who also have big cap constraints. Dak will probably end up getting less than Dallas offered him this year.

he wont get the full tag will have to be the transitional tag the floor is 175 million for next year but if they lose lots of money the cap is going to be pretty flat for three or four years

All teams will have to follow the $175M cap. So, no team is going to have $30M to pay a QB. Market price.

Dak turns down 5 years at 30+M/year and may have to leave the Cowboys next year to get $10-15M possibly. Big gamble on his part.

Just a hunch on my part, but I think the NFL and players are in for a rude awakening with future revenue. It may continue to drop for years.

I looked into my crystal ball and what did I see,
The Cowboys will finish at thirteen and three..
I think that is fine, and I think that is dandy..
Especially when we won with a ginger named Andy.

This won't be just a Dak-Cowboy problem. It will impact all 32 teams in some way. Look for the league/owners/players to work out some alternative.

Dak could be a free agent in 2021.
Ultimately, Dak signed his franchise tag tender, which will pay him $31.4 million fully guaranteed in 2020. Dak will earn around $37 million on the franchise tag in 2021 if Dallas used it again.

I just don't see that happening being they offered him $35 million per & he turned it down.

I don’t see Dak playing with the Cowboys after this year.

$38 million is too big a cap hit if he is tagged again in 2021. And a long-term contract seems very unlikely, otherwise it would have happened before the July 15 deadline.

We better enjoy this season because things could get ugly quickly if we have to start searching for a QB.

The Colts and Patriots will have room. Lots of talking heads think the Colts will be a perfect match.

They owners are betting on the television contract and legalized gambling. It will go up. The owners are no fools when it comes to money.
