☆I'm Leavin-Elvis...'71...haunting dark ballad...one of his best from this period.

☆Seperate Ways-Elvis...'72...recorded in March of that year...the very week he and Priscilla split.

☆Always On My Mind-Elvis...'72...same session in March...released as the b-side to Seperate Ways...both 2 of his best and most hauntingly beautiful songs.

☆Pieces Of My Life-Elvis...'75...boy...these heartbreak songs were right in his wheel house.
the darker the better.

nights in white satin-moody blues...stops me in my tracks everytime....makes me want to sit in my rocker and just think.
one of my favorite tv shows back in the 80's was wiseguy...starring ken wahl as a fbi agent who goes undercover in the mob.
one of the episodes had a powerful scene with wahl and the mobster....this song played over it...still remember it.

I appreciate the response. I'm struggling a bit now and this stuff is helping for some reason. It's just nice to know there are good people out there like yourself.

I don’t think I’ve quite heard any album compare to the heartbreaking sadness of Phil Elverum’s A Crow Looked At Me. His usual pretty, delicate guitar strings and introspective lyrics are abandoned, and replaced with simple riffs to support one idea - the death of his wife, and his new role as a single father of a 1 year old girl.
