You've never heard Mr. Bojangles? You must be pretty young. Great song. That's a good one CC. I don't know the second one so I will give it a listen.

I just assumed blinking was an euphemism for getting drunk in prison and thinking about mama as a train engineer, being drunk too, and plowing through a stalled truck on the tracks. It can't be the greatest country song, because he hadn't said anything at all about mama or trains, or trucks, or prison, or getting drunk.
I am surprised a writer/director never took that to a full story. You've never heard Mr. Bojangles? You must be pretty young. Great song.
Yeah, I vaguely remember Sammy Davis Jr. doing some kind of act with it, maybe on Sonny and Cher's variety show or something.I am surprised a writer/director never took that to a full story.
Ya want sad? This one is awfully sad and awful at the same time.
He covered it and did the dance.Yeah, I vaguely remember Sammy Davis Jr. doing some kind of act with it, maybe on Sonny and Cher's variety show or something.
I hated it when it came out and if you read the lyrics, it's even worse. Sounds like it was written by some idiot that got rejected from Hallmark Cards.I hate that song. Not because it's sad, it just sucks. Lol
I do know that one, I just didn't recognize it at first. I have not been called young in many years so thank you for that. LOL!You've never heard Mr. Bojangles? You must be pretty young. Great song.
I guess I always heard it as the loneliness, long forgotten dreams and the feeling that "nothing short of dying" is worse than that lonesome walk down that quiet street while life happens around you. Alcohol was the cure for that sadness but there is no escaping it come Sunday morning. My favorite JC song, but while it's dark, I'm not sure I'd call it sad. I guess it depends on how you feel about hangovers and alcoholism.. Yeah, okay, it's sad.
Wow, no Mama Loved the Roses?...In The Ghetto?...*GASP*one of my favorite Elvis recording sessions were from '73...a series at Stax produced 3 albums and some solid music...some of the best were dark...
