take the money you are saving and just sign another guy with some possible upside if you need a depth piece. its a new staff and new system in place anyway.
True but I think they took their plunge.

I dont think they would see that savings as a means to go get someone else.

Who anyway? Ryan? That's really all that's out there.

Meh, signing, what Griffin are we getting. he 32 and we are hoping he's what he was in Minnesota, we're hoping McCoy is what he was in Tampa. Until I see it it's Meh.

He had solid numbers in 2019. Zimmer said he had been playing at the highest level he had seen him play at.

Unless he completely falls off a cliff, we have added a very solid DE into the rotation, and at 6 mil he is a bargain.

Headcase? Maybe. But he will be motivated to ball out and keep his nose clean for one final payday in 2021.

This is a very good move by our FO. I will be critical when they deserve it, but I will also give them credit when they do a good job. Adding 4 pro bowlers to the defense (5 if you count Smith) in one offseason is impressive work any you cut it.

Will every move pan out? Probably not. But they have not sat on their hands when it came to addressing the defense this offseason. Hats off

I didn't want Griffin at the salary he was asking for. But Griffin on a one year pillow contract is a no-brainer.

This is a great signing if he has his mental issues in check these days. Edwards probably provided insight on that front.

Finally a move that I truly like. He's an upgrade over Robert Quinn who was very suspect in the run game.

For sure we aren't getting either guy at their peak, but we are likely getting 2/3rds of their peak performance for 1/3rd of their peak salary. And both guys have quality depth backing them up, especially Griffin.

Thing is we have a decent rotation now on the line.

We have solid vets across the board and some backups with upside behind them.

We did well but we need to hit on some draft picks. We need a young D. Ware.

I think the message just became clearer to the players. If they EVER doubted Mike M's message about it being all about winning, he removed all doubt with the signing. You can bet he was pounding the table for Him all along. He knows him well. He had to coach against him at GB.He knows the player very well

I agree, I have no doubt that MM played a major role in bringing in the talent this year in FA. Amazing the difference a REAL HC makes!

I think Griffen is a bit more than just 'meh'.

I agree with you about McCoy (and even Poe) - those are acquisitions in name only, unless they prove they have found a fountain of youth and can play better than just contributing to the league's worst run D a year ago.

Griffen is another story. He can play another 2 years at a high level in my opinion. I never like to to see the Cowboys get better, but they did with this move.

Good signing. They needed a proven veteran who actually produced as of 2019. Can't rely on Gregory or Aldon (no matter how many times Jay Glazer tries to make Aldon sound like he'll be the second coming of Lawrence Taylor when he returns)

I actually think Aldon is going to be very good, possibly better than Griffen, but the primary option with Gregory not being reinstated would have been to rotate him with Crawford unless one of the young ends stepped up.

I like Crawford more than some on here, but he's not a RDE. He's only started there previously because we failed to find a starter. Crawford is better off possibly spelling Lawrence at LDE some and McCoy at 3-tech, which is Crawford's best position.

An end rotation of Smith, Griffen and Lawrence is exciting. If a young guy knocks Crawford out as the fourth end, that's even better, but we've been waiting for that for a while now.

Numbers show that Carolina was quite a bit better when Poe was healthy and playing than without him. Also, McCoy, who cut his teeth as a 4-3 3-tech, was playing 3-4 DE a lot in the Panthers' scheme, so he was handling a lot of two-gap responsibilities instead of one-gapping, which is his strength.

One of the things I like about it most. When you are bringing in an unfamiliar FA, you don't know all of his warts. Edwards should have a really good idea of what Dallas is getting in Griffen. I know he has his issues, but I don't think he would be here if they extended to being a problem in the locker room or on the field.
