RELEASED Gerald McCoy released w/injury waiver

Had to have been preexisting injury or issue or something... You just dont pick a quad and put a waiver on it. I feel bad for McCoy but both gambled and cowboys lost 3 mil

I don’t ever wanna hear you guys moan and cry about players holding out, and this is why. When you’re not useful anymore you’re cut, so I completely understand every player who holds out and demands as much money as they can get. Cutthroat business
Not really in this case
There is a reason there was a clause in his contract pertaining to this very injury

There goes the revamped DL. Lol
Come on. No.

Poe, Gallimore and the idea that Hill wants to play are fine enough inside as additions.

If this DL was fine as was, I refuse to believe that the loss of a 32 year old who was slated to play a max of half the snaps makes that much of a difference.

We weren't getting the 2012 version of him.

No, IR players are still under contract. A release means he is a free agent. Of course that won't do him any good this season.
Once an injured player clears waivers they revert back to IR. (unless in rare instances where some other team claims them and rehabs them) Or when it's a minor injury and they reach a settlement.

i understand that in this instance, but we both know that a team will cut you when you’re no longer useful. But fans wanna bich and moan about loyalty until it’s time for the team to be loyal

Yikes and Crawford is still stealing money and he has an off the field incident at a bar to boot

lmao you can’t make this up

what are you talking about, apparently there was a pre existing condition with the quad , and he agreed to it, they also may have negotiated him being released so they could get the roster spot. nothing shady or disrespectful here. and I'm the first one to call Stephen cheap.

Well, we don't want to hear you moan and cry about player salaries. We still have to pay him and he counts against the cap. That's why players should have injury settlements. Wait.....they do. What are you blathering about again?

Before this gets too out of hand, is this due to the reduced roster numbers due to Covid? I can't see this happening with McCoy in a normal year & just wondering if the seemingly harsh action is forced due to current roster management decisions.

McCoy has made a lot of money.

The fact that there was a clause for this exact injury in his contract......

My guess is people (not sure exactly who) have concluded this was career ending. Not worth the attempt at a comeback.

The salary they dont have to carry can be sent to the retain #98 relief fund.
