RELEASED Gerald McCoy released w/injury waiver

I get owners already have several billions but if I have to choose what’s best for the team or the player I’m always gonna go with the team, even if it does mean I’m supporting the owners as a result.
100% agreed.

LOL at blaming the owners when cutting him and freeing up money helps the team more so than the owners (that extra money can either sign a replacement or carry over next season to guess what ? Possibly go back into McCoys pocket if they re-sign him........).

When you’re not useful anymore you’re cut, so I completely understand every player who holds out and demands as much money as they can get. Cutthroat business
Every job is like that. If my car breaks down and I can't physically make it to work my job will can me. If someone younger rises up the ranks and can outperform me for less money guess what ? I'm canned as well.

People act like the owners are screwing the players when really the money savings is going straight back to improve the team........ (I mean hell in this case if his salary rolls over into next season his cash might literally go back into his pocket if he is healthy enough to re-sign).

Had to have been preexisting injury or issue or something... You just dont pick a quad and put a waiver on it. I feel bad for McCoy but both gambled and cowboys lost 3 mil
There were prior quad injuries. Ergo Stephen added the waiver. Good thinking.

Wonder if we have anything like this in Poe's contract, who was also dealing with a quad issue.

Both parties took a chance, there was a red flag and the Cowboys covered their arse. If the Cowboys didn’t and news got out that they knew about this existing condition, all hell would break loose. “Another dumb move” “Incompetent FO. Not as cut throat as everyone makes it out to be but it was a good job by the FO. A plus in book.

I don’t ever wanna hear you guys moan and cry about players holding out, and this is why. When you’re not useful anymore you’re cut, so I completely understand every player who holds out and demands as much money as they can get. Cutthroat business

What a terrible take. The guy just got paid 3 Million dollars. For what, a weeks work? He's 32 years old. He's not coming back this year, and there's a good chance he may never play again.

Smart move by Cowboys and they probably did it with McCoy’s blessing. I have little doubt Jerry told him they will take care of him if he wants to come back.

I dont at all know why, but whenever I hear the name Lance Lenoir I think of Jason Garrett immediately.

Cant churn the bottom of that roster enough for my taste.

lets not pretend this is the first time we’ve ever seen this happen tho. Players get injured they get cut, their production falls off they get cut, and nobody has a problem with that. The second a player outperforms his contract and wants an increase its “he’s selfish, not loyal etc etc” this just shows this game is a business plain and simple

What did you think it was, if not a business?

Wrong take

He had another $4M in "guarantees" that he just lost due to an injury waiver.

$3M seems like a lot to you but the second his quad exploded, he immediately lost $4M and potentially more next season, at a point in his career where he is not likely to see another significant payday. He will also lose out on the likely Dallas-area endorsements that come with being a Dallas Cowboy.

McCoy lost a ton of money yesterday.

Dak, and most players, look at contracts like this. Tomorrow is not promised in the NFL.

This is why players are selfish. If owners have no loyalty, then why should players have loyalty? And if it's just business, which I don't doubt it is, then it should be just business when Players hold out etc...
Dude it was a injury waiver. It was agreed to in the contract. He agreed to be cut if his quad cost him the season. The dude is still getting 3million it is not like he got a bad deal.

I'd go all the way up to a 3rd rounder for Geno, he's the truth.

I'll use the 4th we'll get since we have compensatory picks and his cap hit was bothering them. they were already talking about lowering his snap count which is NFL speak for lowering your base salary as you're officially higher end rotation.

They're a young team that doesn't expect to show much this year other than potential but keep some names around at a fair price to show the fans they are trying their best.

I did hit on Robert Quinn last offseason. Just didn't know it would be for just a 6th.

He gets $3 million dollars for doing nothing.

The amount of ignorance when its clearly explained is astonishing. Its clear from the tweet the Cowboys and McCoy agreed to a clause on a specific type of injury. Which in turn, came to be the exact injury that was stipulated. This is not the Cowboys cutting him just to cut him. Clearly this showed up in his physical and thus brought about the release. I wonder why some of you are even fans of this team if all you do it ***** about the team. Anything and everything. Even situations thats explained but you either have no reading comprehension or just flat out dont even read whats being reported.
