Has anyone heard anything on Ron'Dell Carter?

I cant find and havent seen his name mentioned around here at all.

I understand the guys that are ahead of him, but I am surprised to hear nothing at all on him.

The team spent extra $ to get him here, and he has some upside.

Definte PS guy because of numbers, but I'm concerned about not being able to sneak him on.

Thx. Cant imagine he has been getting many reps, especially with Anae doing well.

Again I'm just hoping to stash the guy on the PS, but he was a definite high priority UDFA.

Your likely 100% correct about his lack of reps. He falls into that dreadful category of not being an established vet. I'm thinking he probably has a decent chance to be included in those who'll qualify for the practice squad. We need to keep plenty of those with his capabilities in tow. We'll see. He got a generous bonus for signing -- far more than most of the other UDFAs. That says something pretty special, in itself.

Ya its kind of crazy how a team can go from being considered weak at a position to becoming a team strength so fast.
Currently Carter is behind Griffen, Crawford and Armstrong at RDE.

You guys worried about UDFA rookie Carter?

How about 2nd year DE Jackson? Not 1 peep about him. Now that guy, who made the team last year, is likely not to make the team this year under this new coaching staff and addition of more players.

I haven't necessarily given up on him but it's tough to know what to think when he's being set aside and not allowed to compete. Let's see what happens with him. Sometimes, the final results hold surprises in store, despite the lack of exposure. I really figured we'd see more of him, myself. I seem to recall last year's staff having high hopes for him. Perhaps he'll see some action in the Blue and White Scrimmage on Sunday.

I hear you, Bullflop. Jackson showed promise last season. It would be sad to see such a young talent be cut in favor of older talent brought in by a new coaching staff.

What I do love and have been advocating for several seasons is the expanded rosters, the league has needed that for several years.
Gives players like Carter and Jackson an opportunity to show and grow.

Has anyone even heard of him? Does he play for the Cowboys?

I brought up Jacksons name in a thread not too long ago.

See it's all fine and nice that we have some numbers at the edge spot, but Griffen and Smith are on one year deals.

The cap is going downward next year, and either these guys fail, or we will have difficulty affording them.

Why I am not up for losing high upside rushers.

I was glad to see that, too. It's going to get some of those youngsters a chance who may have been cut otherwise. It was high time for it.

I think Carter was mentioned at one time s possibly being one of the DE that could drop back as a LB. But with the lack of time to get him work there. He will be a PS guys.

with only 80 players in TC. And 16 PS players this year. Just about any player not making the 53, will be a PS candidate. Since they can keep 6 on it with vet experience. One can identify 11 easily for the cuts to get to the 53 plus 16.
Just comes down to who gets claimed from waivers. And if they have anyone they may claim. Position need will be a factor as well.

However this being an odd year, most teams will want to keep players they are familiar with in their system.
The teams that are in build for the future, rebuilding types will go for players on waivers. But most that feel they can compete for a playoff spot will stick to their guys. IMO.

I know you know bro,, but lets start getting used to calling it the 55
yep. If I had my way I would keep both Jackson and Carter. Those upside DE'S are hard to come by. My main worry tho, is at DT and stopping the run. We look soft there until we see someone step up. Means Neville Gallimore needs to take off the training wheels fast.

I wouldn't put much stock into what we don't hear about non big name players.

The media presence at camp is very limited this year and the media focuses on the bigger names or on players that were their own pet cats.

A player like Carter would have to be super awesome or super bad in order to get much media attention this year.
