well not because he don't possess talent but because he and his agent cant come to an agreement Mr sensitive. Glad you're not making personnel decisions. If they would have listened to you Romo would have been practiced squad. as much as i think fans over rated him he was good for the team. Dalton most likely wont be here next year but this team don't need 4 TE that's for sure so book it Dinnucci will be on the 53. He wont make a gameday active list but hell be on roster cause the cowboys see something.
Nah, you just see your Romo clone. That's what this is.

As far as I'm concerned, offensively and defensively they should go:
2 QB - Dak and Dalton
2 HB - Zeke and Pollard
5 WR - The big 3, Wilson and Brown
3 TE - Jarwin, Bell, Schultz
8 OL - Tyron, Martin, Looney, Williams, Collins, McGovern, Erving, Biadasz
9 DL - Tank, Griffen, Smith, Anae, Woods, Poe, Crawford, Gallimore, Hill
5 LB - LVE, Jaylon, Lee, Thomas, Gifford or Bernard
5 CB - Awuzie, Lewis, Brown, Diggs, Worley
4 S - Woods, Dix, Thompson, Robinson

That leaves a couple of spots for strictly developmental guys and the rest depend on special teams ability, which I have not studied enough to have an informed opinion. Yes, I'm aware safety is a glaring need.

I was planning to ask the group how many receivers we carry. Since this thread is already there, would like to get your thoughts.

It's difficult for me to see us carrying less than 6. It certainly seems that Wilson & Brown have locked up 4th & 5th position. I have a feeling they want to keep one of the younger guys on the roster. Then again if they go long at the TE position, they may go with 5 receivers.

Some of the reasons for carrying 6:
  • Its a passing league
  • When possible, rest Amari to keep his plantar fasciitis under control
  • If injuries hit, difficult to find a receiver who can come in cold & contribute.

If Dix has been lackluster, should he make the roster?
I'm fine with leaving him off if you think Wilson is legitimately better (I don't, but I'm not convinced he's worse, either). You do need some safety depth. And in this case I use that term loosely.

us fans certainly haven't seen enough action to know but he's the "name" player who seems quite vulnerable to being cut. Let me preface this by saying, in general, I think the new regime would prefer to keep younger players with room to develop over guys they already know the ceiling on. However, Covid would lend itself to favoring the known over the unknown and more likely you get a young guy thru waivers and back to the PS. Bottom line, who knows. Cuts will be interesting ..... as always.

and you just are worried someone may unseat your hero. You obviously don't know to much about me if you think Id be interested in a Romo clone.I spent years being pissed at his underwhelming success.I spent years arguing the constant excuses for that guy that Dak don't receive.I am a big Dak fan but in the end I am a team guy and I actually trust that MM may know a bit about coaching and if he sees something positive in this kid (Dinucci) that he don't want to risk putting him on the PS then I understand that and support it.

I don't like having just two rbs because if both get hurt in the same game you at least need someone to finish the game at rb. Unless the 4th tight end can fulfill that function I would try to find another rb or fb. Not risking Dinucci to waivers if he is a viable backup going forward so I'm fine with 3 qb's. Everything else looks fine, just curious who would get cut if we were to bring in Earl Thomas.

Lol. Dak is not going anywhere unless he allows his greedy agent to overprice his way out of Big D. Pretty sure Dak got the message, hence why he was quick to state he is a lifelong Cowboy and plans to stay that way. Dak is entering his prime and it's showing in camp. He's only going to get better and better. He's not going anywhere.

well hopefully not!! but he said all this before negotiations as well and it didn't pan out. I believe hes a damn good QB and should be paid accordingly but he let his agent dictate things last summer and if it happens again then him being elsewhere is a possibility. That being said if hes here (which i believe he will be) Then Andy wont be and the back up will be Dinucci I think.

ET isnt coming but lets say your right then you're bringing him in because you don't have faith in what you got. Then my recommendations are get rid of the worse DB.

I agree with this. Very likely how McCarthy is seeing things. Since 2 extra players can be kept on the roster this year (from 53 to 55), I believe 1 of those extra spots will be used to keep Dinucci. I still say they need to keep a FB since Olawale decided to opt out of this 2020 season. Sewo Olonilua would be perfect due to his size and multi-talents. Going without a FB or trying to use a TE to lead block on certain plays for Zeke would be a mistake in my opinion.

Im ok with fullback but do we actually get to extra on roster or 2 extra on practice squad Im a bit confused with that

I thought due to Covid the rosters are now 55 instead of 53?

Roster is 53 with the ability to elevate 2 players from the practice squad on game day weekend (55 on game day). The same player can only be elevated 3 times.

There is also a requirement to have 8 O-line players to reach 55 on game day.

Why 3 QBs? Already have enough with 2 in Dak and Dalton. We actually need a FB, especially since Olawale opted out of this season. I say keep Sewo as our FB. He's big (6'3", 240), fast (mid 4.5 40s), and super versatile since he can run, block and catch the football. We definitely need a FB more than we need a 3rd QB at this time.

- Sewo has some considerable measurements but the idea was to move him to FB, and i haven't heard much of his success at that.
Its so tough with limited contact, and no live preseason. It's the blockiing that i'm most interested in with him as the lone FB on the roster.

- With CoVid 19 and that valuable QB position, and a QB prospect that teams likely to swipe him right off waivers -before he even would
have a chance to get to our practice squad.
Plus Dalton is just here on a 1 year contract, who knows what his decision will be after this year.
And we'd already have a promising young prospect being groomed.
