DC talking heads on Cowboy's website seemed to be calling out Dak

The common theme that I keep reading in this group when it comes to Dak: it's always someone else's fault. Whether it is the coaching staff, defense, special teams, drops, offensive line, weather man.......it's never Dak's fault.

People simply are pointing out the fact that for some reason the Dak led Cowboys can't seem to win close games. To be able to have a dialogue as fans is a good thing without being called a Dak hater or Dak lover or whatever.

Most in the group want to see the Cowboys return to their Super Bowl years....bottom line. If Dak leads them to that place then so be it and if he can't then move on in the hopes of finding the right QB and team chemistry/talent to make that happen.

Your first paragraph summarizes the split between the pro and anti #4 crowd.
Accountability is a deep word around here. From ownership to coaching to quarterbacking to fan base.
It's this hot potato blame game of accountability or just blatant lack of it that keeps this franchise mired in mediocrity.
I think this culture of profit sharing over team results priority will continue as long as the current family runs things.
That doesn't paint a pretty picture for the future. Unless some multi billionaire strolls along with an offer too good to be true for this current Cartel, it's not gonna change.
Heck, they probably wouldn't even sell it then.

Go Cowboys

Nick Eatman basically said Dak is not clutch, he doesnt bring the team back to win games and the stats prove it. In the Cowboys last 8 games decided by one score, the Cowboys are 1-7. Dak getting the ball back with a minuet or two and driving the team down the field for the winning score does not happen and he said he was actually getting concerned about it.

have to agree

Not sure why people, particularly pundits, expect the impossible from Dak. He is not an elite QB. Oh, by the way, he will be paid like an elite QB because the market says he will. Lots of good QBs get paid elite money. Dak will be one of them.

The Cowboys seem to be looking for a way to shake loose of Dak. If true, that they didn't get a deal done because of franchise language at the end of the deal, the Cowboys are really incompetent.

What have I said all offseason?

While some on here act like Dak is a top 5 QB it’s obvious he is a high end care taker.

He’s very solid.. But I think it’s foolish to give him the contract he wants. He isn’t worth it.

Down 3 with Over 2 minutes left in the game with a timeout and the 2-minute warning at his disposal, this fool couldnt even get us past mid field :facepalm:

And I dont wanna hear about the pass to Gallup. The GOAT (Randy Moss) even admitted that was OPI.
I agree with everything you said. Except Moss being the GOAT. Jerry Rice has that honour.

I dont care what a writer that gets paid to enrage fans to get click says. The facts are all that matter.

Correct, the facts are all that matters and the fact is the Cowboys with Dak at QB have lost 7 of their last 8 one-score games.

For a QB wanting $40 million a season, this is a disturbing trend.

No, we didnt lose those games because of Dak, but we didnt win those games because of Dak either. That is the problem when you want to be the highest paid QB in the league.

But on 3rd down there were 3 drops in this game. This is either true or its now. There is no need to over analyze a fact. Which you are doing and even refusing to acknowledge the fact.

Here are some statistical facts.

This is a year by year record since 2016 (Dak led Cowboys) that shows how Dallas did against teams when TRAILING at the half:

2016

2 Wins 1 Loss

2017

0 Wins 3 Losses

2018

1 Win 4 Losses

2019

0 Wins 8 Losses

2020

N/A

Total Record of Dak led Dallas Cowboys from 2016-2020 when TRAILING at the half:

3 Wins 16 Losses

Now you can say all you want that it's a team win or team loss and while that may be true, the stats show that for some reason with Dak as the starting QB Dallas simply does not come back in the 2nd half to win when trailing at the half.

Dam, Dak is 3-16 for his career when trailing at halftime............didnt realize it was that bad.

Dak is a front-running QB

This “win games in the clutch” wasn’t an issue in Dak’s first 3 seasons really. He was able to do it plenty of times in the first 3 seasons.

It’s been an issue last season And one game so far this season.

is it a slump or just kind of like a statistical anomaly? Or indicative of a more long term trend? That’s the thing I’m not sure about.

So this really has nothing to do with Dak from your point of view? Because if you replace Dak with Zeke as the highest paid RB in the NFL with the results are the same. Or DLaw who has disappeared since getting his deal to include the game and which is actually factual. Im just trying to understand.

Yeah and Cowherd of all people made it. There is a reason we seem to run the ball on first down all the time. At least Zeke looked explosive.

I'd like to know the reason because the stats show Dak throwing the ball on 1st down works way better for the team. There was another tweet (can't remember who it was) that said every time the Cowboys had to punt started with a run on 1st down.

I’m totally good with moving on from Dak... my only concern is who does Dallas trade to move up in the draft? Cooper? DLaw? Gallup? I’d personally rather trade Cooper but I don’t think u could get a 1st for him...

Let me help you understand since you are having a hard time.

Just because you make a couple of bad contracts and overpay some of your players doesnt mean you just do it with all of your players, especially the QB.

Dak wants to be the highest paid QB in the league, so the question is should the highest paid QB in the league not lose virtually every close game he plays?

Also, should the highest paid QB in the league be able to bring his team from behind and win? Well Dak's career record when trailing at halftime is 3-16.

So are you following along yet? Basically should you pay a QB that cant bring his team from behind and cant win close games, at least not in recent times, more money than any other QB in the league?

Jesse Holly said , "If you want to get paid like Rogers, Mahomes, Wilson, Brees, ect....then you need to be spectacular on Sundays, not just "well he played ok". Holly said that when there is 45 seconds left on the clock and Rogers gets the ball down 4, the other team is terrified. There is a "belief he will get it done as opposed to a hope he will get it done". You do not have that with Dak.

Nick's point is valid. 1-7 over last 8 one score games is obviously poor. However, we're having a different conversation if we don't get jobbed by the refs on that OPI call on Gallup. Should have been 50 yards potentially leading to a game winning TD. But yes, in the broader picture, we have to start winning these close games if the QB expects to get paid like a top 5 QB. No question....

I think many of you have good points but there are 15 more games to play. 1st game of the season. In the first half the Rams were walking the ball up and down the field at will. Our D was putrid. How we got ahead 14-13 at the half I will never know. I figured the offense would be sluggish because of not having a preseason. Maybe Dak isn't the qb of the future, maybe he is. Let's see what happens over the next 7+ weeks.

I was glad to see the defense make adjustments, (for once), against those stinking screen passes. They were eating us up in the first quarter.

Maybe the offensive line issues. That is all I can come up with.

I’m leaning towards taking the comp pick and letting Dak leave at this point. Up to him to change my mind. I certainly wouldn’t tag him again or sign him for $35+ million a year if that’s the best he can do or if you can’t change the offense because of him.

2016 was 5, 2017= 0, 2018=3, 2019=0 not sure what you are looking at I look at 4th quarter come backs not the bogus GWD.
